Sex Trafficking Cartels Already invading Phoenix
(One of the worst yet fake reports full of lies to stir of up the public getting national attention).
Brenda Gifford worked with the governor's Task Force on Human Trafficking and said 82 percent of children being traffic in America are U.S. citizen. She says the problem is about to get even worse with the Super Bowl coming to Glendale in February.
"There are three major sex trafficking cartels setting up in the Phoenix metroplex as we speak," Gifford said. She said pimps groom young girls and keep moving every few weeks to stay a step ahead of police. "What 10-year-old doesn't want to be 20? And what 12-year-old doesn't want to be Beyonce?," Gifford asked. "So when someone treats them like an adult and buys them gifts, these girls fall in love with these guys," she said.
Its methodical and it's a business.
Pimps run barely-legal escort ads, such as the ones you find on the popular Valley-based website backpage.com. (Dave notes, actually it is LE that sets up the fake ads for adults, on the adult website and then entraps them).
"Sex trafficking is the fastest growing criminal enterprise in the world," Gifford said. "An average pimp has four to six girls and can make $1.5 million a year with his stable."
Hugh Hallman said modern technology contributes to the problem.
"So the worst kinds of things that take place in human history are now taking place at lightning speed across the country because of this technology," Hallman said. "That's what we're up against."
Now, a coalition of 21 nonprofit groups, is working with local and international law enforcement teams to track the victims and shut down the sex trafficking circuit.
Gifford said the Super Bowl isn't the only mega-event in the Valley that brings in big money. The Waste Management Phoenix Open, the NFL Pro Bowl, the Fiesta Bowl, Barrett-Jackson, the Arabian Horse Show, NASCAR races and Country Thunder are included in that list.
The public can help by joining in The Run Against Trafficking (R.A.T. Race) Saturday at Reach 11 Sports Complex near Cave Creek and Deer Valley roads in North Phoenix. A run begins at 8 a.m. and a walk at 9 a.m.
