Default How Long have you been a Cowboy's Fan

Ok, so I got to thinking today after reading a post by Sophie, about everyone jumping on the Cowboy's bandwagon because they have won their first playoff game in 13 years.

How long have you been a Dallas Cowboy's Fan? Or I guess if you aren't a Cowboy's Fan, who are you a fan of, and how long have you been a fan of that team?

I didn't grow up in Texas, grew up in Colorado, but I became a fan of the Cowboy's when I was a freshman in High School in 1976. Probably more so because of Tom Landry then any of the Player's. I have been following the Cowboy's every since. After having traveled around the world, for the last 20 plus years while in the Military, at times it was hard to even get to watch some of the games. The year I spent in Japan, I used to have to get up at 1:00 am to watch the NFL games. Watched a lot of games in Sport's Bars and clubs all over the world.

So let's hear your stories....

Every since my Daddy said this is a football, I've been a Cowboy fan.
Seriously, for as long as I can remember. I was born in Dallas and use to go to the Cowboy games at the Cotton Bowl. We had season tickets at Texas Stadium. I was so emotionally involved in the games back in the day. In fact me and some of my buddies met the Cowboys at the airport after the "Hail Mary" Minnesota game.

There's been some lean years for the Cowboys, but the team this year has been brought back some of the old winning attitude. Doomesday Three Baby! I think Tom would like these guys.

A true fan is a fan even when they are down.I've been a fan for over twenty years now.
I may berate them when they play bad but they are still my team.
Go Boys

Since I first found out about the Cowboys in like 1991, I was 12 yrs old! I remember they went 1-15 that year, then the next 3 out of 4 years they went all the way. Those were amazing times.

I grew up in Phoenix.. We didn't have a pro team at the time.. Growing up I was an Raiders fan... Fast Forward .. 1984 I move to Dallas.. Meet and Marry a native Texan..
Begin to become a fan... Jerry buys the team.. Sort of loose interest.. Then the days of Emmit, Mike and Troy.. Hard not to be a fan.. Then out goes Jimmy.. In comes Barry.. Shit.. Hard to be a fan... Berry's gone.. YEA.. But still hard to be a fan... String of bad players.. Bad coaches.. And the one constant, dipshit owner Jerry...
Hard to be a fan... But I try..

slims099, it was 1989 when they went 1-15. It was the year I became a fan when we I would listen to the radio with my stepdad and brother while fishing or working on the farm - I was 12 that year.

It was awesome to see them at their lowest then the next year they went 7-9 when they drafted Emmitt Smith in 1990. The following year went 10-6 and to the playoffs. And of course everyone knows what happened next....

40 plus years.
We had season tickets at the Cotton Bowl & Texas Stadium (in the beginning). Used to go to the Cotton Bowl and Dad would put me and my brother in the end zone and we would meet up afterwards and go to the midway. Great memories and more to come.
GO COWBOYS.

We was moved to Dallas when I was 6, my Dad was from Big D and a huge Cowboy fan, so inherently I was a Cowboy fan. Then when I was a sophomore in High School, our football team went to a local turf stadium to practice as it rained for a solid week and our practice field was torn up.

We get to the stadium to find another team on OUR field. We get onto the field and it's the Dallas friggin' Cowboys! Coach Laundry talked to our coaches, they had about an hour left in their practice, but said we could hang out on the sidelines. One of the most memorable hours in my life. Tony Dorsett, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Randy White, Danny White, etc...

We fought over pens and scraps of anything we could find to have them sign. I have been a true die hard fan ever since. Still not thrilled about the Jerry regime to this day, but still a fan.
