Well it is a constitutional requirement to defend the country. Welfare and entitlements cost us more but are NOT required by Constitution.

Is it a constitutional requirement that we rank number one in defense spending and spend more than the next 9 COMBINED?

Unlike you, I'll provide references.

So someone dares to ask about defense spending, suggesting maybe it's a bit out of whack. And this is your idea of a response? As if we have a choice where our money goes.

And it seems that welfare IS in there, you just missed it, I guess.

Actually, defense spending is one of the least efficient ways of creating jobs.

"A 2009 University of Massachusetts study on the economics of federal spending found that more jobs are created from each federal dollar spent on education, health care, and clean energy compared to the number of jobs created from each federal dollar spent on defense."

Here's the story, the link to the study is contained therein.

Goes to show that you choose not to understand what was written. Like so many leftists including your master.

James Madison voted against a welfare bill saying the Constitution did not provide for such spending. Argue with the man who wrote it.

Only a leftist would think of national defense as a jobs program.

Your thinking is muddled and fucked up.

I think we could drastically cut the defense budget without harming our defense. However, it would harm the war profiteers, and they run the place. So we have bases, weapons, equipment and more we don't need, but as long as the corporations can make a buck off the American taxpayer, we will have increasing defense budgets, without a corresponding increase in effectiveness.

Just remember the past. Whatever dollars you save today will correspond to a life lost tomorrow. That is something the left must embrace after their bellyaching about the up armored Humvees that Congress did not vote to build but was blamed on Bush.

There have always been unarmored vehicles in war zones, they were called Jeeps, 3/4 trucks, and deuce and a half's .

Since a good portion of those "defense dollars" are, in fact, spent on education (academic and military: just ask a pilot) and healthcare, you "#Grubered", freelance faggot, Odumbo Minion from Arkansas, you just torpedoed your own POV.

Yeah, that's written in the same place that Whiny's drastic cuts are...

Great point, Col. Jessup!

So how many layers of rude insults must be passed before we can find any coherent statement in that vomit, IBIDiot?

One day, you'll have something to say and won't now how, you (fill in the blanks with something ridiculous and outrageously aggressive).

No, those education dollars were in the private sector, you fucking mouthbreather. Anything spent on the military would be filed under defense spending.

You're a stupid, lying cock-sucker, you "#Grubered", freelance faggot, Odumbo Minion from Arkansas.

In those cited, Army programs, Defense dollars are used to pay for the academic/vocational education of doctors, you "#Grubered", freelance faggot, Odumbo Minion from Arkansas, and there similar programs for lawyers, veterinarians and dentists. Plus, every branch of service spends millions to train plane and helicopter pilots who enter the private sector after leaving the service, you "#Grubered", freelance faggot, Odumbo Minion from Arkansas.

And they all have healthcare, you "#Grubered", freelance faggot, Odumbo Minion from Arkansas.

Only someone like you would think it was a fucking gloryhole that we should just keep throwing money down.

James Madison? You cherry pick ONE guy? Prove it. You haven't cited anything yet, I doubt you do this time.

Where did this little gem come from? That is utter bullshit. What about all the other programs where billions were spent and NOTHING ever came of them? Is that fiscal responsibility? But let's talk about your up-armored Humvees. Since you brought them up. The cost went up from $70K for a military Humvee to between $160-220K for the up-armored version and here's what the Army had to say about them, even after spending ALL that money.

"This modern Up-Armored HMMWV (UAH), however, still does not fully meet the evolving mobility or protection requirements of our soldiers," according to the report, released by the Army Thursday.

Now that is some government ingenuity for you right there. After doubling and tripling the original cost, it STILL doesn't meet the protection requirements.
