Providers and spas/studios who wish not to be reviewed

I'm going back to a town where I used to live some years ago, and planned to hit up one of my old stomping grounds that I hadn't been to in several years. But when I went to look for reviews of this place, I found none.

So I posted in the ISO section of that city to get the current impressions/rates of the place, and my post was promptly deleted, without any sort of explanation. After emailing the mods, I was told that this place has requested that no reviews be posted.

Never mind that post was not a review, but how exactly does letting these establishments (or providers) dictate whether or not we can post reviews help our cause? One could deduce that maybe this place is a ripoff and that is why they don't want reviews, but it used to have a stellar reputation and I never had a bad time there, so now I have no idea what is in store for me if I should decide to go back.

Nope it is not helpful.

If a NRP (No Review Policy) has been established here then we honor that as long as they do no advertising anywhere. That policy extends to any discussion of said establishment. That is THEIR choice and they suffer any consequences of their decision. Me personally, would avoid the establishment without reviews or without some private knowledge. Please let a local Mod know if you happen to come across any advertisement for them in print or on any internet site. NRP's have been known to be rescinded if the agreements are not followed.

Good reviews will generate the business that providers need to stay in business and pay the bills, but unfortunately too many of these ladies live more in dreaded fear of being busted than trying to generate new business.

As gentlemen, we just have to respect their wishes no matter how illogical they may be.

However, to be totally honest, we suffer the consequences too by being kept ignorant of the service these places offer.

Let me toss an idea on the table for discussion.

Suppose we could devise a discrete plan for back-room reviews that are not opened to the public.

The shops would have their wish and not be reviewed publicly, but we could gather intel through the back door.

Anybody for this idea?

Either that, or when somebody posts a request for information on a place/provider that wishes not to be reviewed, how about if the mods were to post a quick reply stating that the place/person in question does not wish to be discussed here, and then lock the thread. That would let others on the board know that no reviews are allowed, and it also allows other members to PM the OP with information.

I don't think just deleting the threads does anybody any good.
