Conservative Bill Kristol ready to raise taxes on the rich.

The biggest news on Sunday was Bill Kristol’s declaration on “Fox News Sunday” that Republicans should give in on President Obama’s demand that tax rates go up on income over $250,000 as part of any fiscal “cliff” deal.

“It won’t kill the country if we raise taxes a little bit on millionaires,” he said. “It really won’t, I don’t think. I don’t really understand why Republicans don’t take Obama’s offer.”

The President says $250,000, Kristol says "Millionaires".
The one huge objection that many Conservatives have about raising taxes on that $250,000 crowd is so many of them are small business people. The typical owner of, say, a successful independent Automotive Repair facility with perhaps 10 to 15 employs, or a successful restaurant.
He works a lot of hours and has total responsibility to make sure everything runs correctly. His income is totally dependent on the profit margin of the business. If the business makes money, he does. If not, he does the best he can.

He brings home, before taxes, about $350,000 a year.

Are these the people that everybody wants to raise taxes own, because they are not "doing their fair share?

Sure, when you add up all of his business assets, he is a "millionaire'. But when all of the expenses of running the business are taken into account, he is really just another middle class American.

the above $250K crowd didnt die before Bush lowered the tax rate I dont suspect they'll die now.

the senate has a bill ready to get through the house and be signed by the prez before the tax cuts sunset ... if the house doesnt pass it then the republicans raise taxes on the entire country, if they do the tax rate for the top 2% returns to pre Bush rates, all else stays the same.

It's my understanding that: 1) the middle class overwhelmingly supported Mitt Romney and 2) the very poor and the very rich overwhelmingly supported Barack Hussein Obama. So, I say, give them what they want. Since the rich overwhelmingly supported Obama and he wants to raise their taxes, let them have it. Raise the taxes on them to 50% for all I care.

The Republicans in the house should just give them everything that they ask for. Otherwise, come 2016, the Republicans will be to blame when things don't improve. So, give them everything that they ask for. Then, when things don't improve and the people get what they supposedly wanted, they will have no one to blame but themselves and the Democrats. And hey, if the economy improves because of it, well then the Dems were right and deserve the credit and the 2016 elections too.

So, let's just go ahead and get it over with. The sooner it all comes crashing down, the sooner we can begin to fix it.
