White Knights are bad news for hobbyists and professional, reliable providers

Christ, the Panhandle section of Florida is chock full of white knights. There are several who should have a ceremony where they kneel in front of all the unscrupulous providers they defend and these providers should place a sword on their shoulders and say in unison, "We dub thee White Knight, and thank you for excusing our most abhorrent behavior."

These dudes are very obvious and I have had many a provider tell me "Did you see that post from so-and-so, what a pussy." I'm paraphrasing here, but you get the gist.

For a great example of this go to the Panhandle section of Florida and check out the Alerts section and look at some of the ridiculous comments made under the thread of "Creepy Asshole."

I really think a lot of these guys think they are currying favor with the providers they defend, but in reality they lose a lot of respect from most of the providers, including the ones they defend. Not to mention that they are complete laughing stocks to most of the guys who have the balls to write a bad review now and then, or speak up in either a public or private forum.

You know a white knight when he has written at least ten reviews with all of them being positive. He is either the luckiest hobbyist in the world or he is just a total wimp. Even more revealing though are the guys who try to be the voice of reason and try to come to a providers rescue regardless of the circumstances.

These white knights are a serious problem because all they do is muddy the waters, especially for newbies, and reaffirm to the less than professional providers that their inexcusable behavior is acceptable. In effect they are nothing short of enablers!!!

To all the white knights out there - grow a pair and man up.

The other thing that should be of concern to the professional and good providers about white knights is that with all the bullshit that these white knights profligate is that when good comments are made about a provider a hobbyist who has been around for a while will inevitably take them with a grain of salt. Food for thought.......

I don't see what you are talking about, Malcolm. There was banter about no shows and putting a guys info out on the open board, but I didn't read any WK-ish comments. I agree that THAT much info on a guy to be put out on the open board was not a great idea, it would have been better to post in the ladies area, I didn't see anyone coming to the defense of a provider.
Speaking for myself, I have many reviews from gentlemen who have seen me several times. That doesn't always equate into him/them being a WK.
Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't see it.

One of the common rants on this or any board, but often a very difficult one to fairly judge.

Yes, there are ladies who are less than upstanding, provide a subpar experience, misrepresent themselves, and do bad things.

The problems are:

(1) There are also guys who try to shortchange, show up less than clean--or less than sober, overstep boundaries, and then when called on it they trash a lady in revenge.

(2) Not every lady who acts inappropriately to one guy does the same to the next guy.

As a result there are plenty of situations where a guy writes a negative comment, and a second guy says "That sounds very odd, I've seen her many times and she never acted that way with ME!" The second guy's comments can be 100% WK, or a 100% true reflection of HIS experiences with the lady. And it is often near impossible to tell which it is.

I saw a lady in Ohio a few times, maybe 3 or 4. She was always on time, friendly, treated me quite well. There were other guys who had similar experiences, including some very experienced reviewers. But there were other guys who had many stories of being treated quite differently--they claimed to be misled, short-timed, rushed, etc. It led to a number of flaming threads between her supporters and detractors. I know she drank. Maybe she acted quite differently when she had too much to drink. maybe she responded based upon how she was treated. Maybe it was differing expectations among her dates. Maybe some of the guys had other issues with her--one of the major detractors was rumored to be an Ex-BF. Or more likely it was a mix of all those things that resulted in some guys having good experiences and others bad ones. I know not everyone who said good things about her was a WK

The other comment of yours I find just foolish is: "You know a white knight when he has written at least ten reviews with all of them being positive. He is either the luckiest hobbyist in the world or he is just a total wimp." You miss the most obvious and simple explanation for a long string of positive reviews--doing your homework! I only have a few reviews here, but between the previous incarnation of this board, TER, etc., I probably have reviewed 60+ ladies and written exactly one bad review, along with maybe two or three luke warm ones. In all those cases it was my fault--I didn't do my homework, and in each of those cases I could have avoided the poor experience. I can honestly say that it has been many years since I have seen any lady I could speak poorly of.

Looking at you reviews, you only have one "No", and that was a BP lady. I don't do use BP to find ladies, I read the reviews of guys I know have similar tastes and expectations, and I form my own judgment based upon what a lady posts and upon my correspondence with her. That has been quite foolproof so far, and I have only been disappointed when I deviate from that.

i don't think its far fetched to have 10 reviews that are all positive.. thats what this site is for to screen providers so its not gonna be hard to accomplish 10 for 10 good experiences. if you pick 10 random girls off BP and don't do any homework on them then yeah 10 out of 10 good is gonna be unrealistic

I basically agree with that joesmo. But the guys I take issue with are the ones who come to the defense of the most despicable behavior of providers in the forums and then when you look at their reviews they're all positive. Some of these guys even go as far as writing a lot of very sketchy things about the provider in the review and then giving a "yes" recommendation. This is misleading in two ways. One, the provider, from my understanding, can not see the ROS, so she just sees the "yes" recommendation and she assumes everything is good. Two, a lot of hobbyists will look at the review page(s) without actually reading the reviews because they don't have premium access or they are just to lazy to read them if they do have premium access, and all they see is a bunch of "yes" recommendations and they base their decisions off that.

The problem I have with white knights is that a lot of them play both sides of the fence and aren't man enough to be of any use as contributors to ECCIE.

There are a hell of a lot of great providers here on ECCIE, but there are also some pretty shady ones too. I am all for giving props to the ones who deserve great things to be written about them and I am more than happy to do so. But the guys who consistently attempt to refute anything that is negatively written about a dubious provider are the ones who this thread is directed at.
