A special members section? Charging a membership fee?

I remember when I first visited the site of Amy Taylor. Gorgeous female. And she had this $99 a month membership fee. I thought that it was brilliant but since I'm not Amy Taylor, well, didn't believe that was an option for me.

Fast forward 8 years:
Many of you know that I'm headed down the road and trying to figure out my Swan Song. Yes, I wish to go in a different direction.

But in the meantime, I'm also trying to figure out ways to create passive income and I'm not beyond selling a pair of panties to do so! Or creating a video of sorts (no faces. nor mine. just an idea or two).

So I was wondering about membership areas on websites. I figured that they offered more pictures, and a more provocative area of some sort.

Do any of you have memberships to porn sites or escort sites?

Just curious. Not even sure how it would work for me, but I'm throwing the question out there.

I joined one porn site out of curiosity about 2 months ago. I don't think I wish to name which one. I struggled with the decision as I wasn't sure it would be worth it. Having worked on a few of these, here are my experiences/thoughts:

Membership sections I've only seen work if they do one, or a combination of the following:
- provide 'better' content not normally found from not paying (HD movies, for example)
- fill a niche market/fetish
- are a natural evolution of a very established fan base

The problem that arrives from these areas though, is that almost inevitably, someone will take the content from there and put it places for free. To that end, I think you have to offer something tangible that cannot be made available for free. Sure you have the pictures, videos, with the knowledge that they'll probably be put out there; but that's ok! That's just marketing material for what people are really paying for. Specialized videos, sessions, calls, maybe used attire*, massages, etc.

If you're wanting to keep it private, smaller, but profitable... I'm not sure that has ever worked out for someone who's doing this through their body (best way I can think to phrase that atm... no caffeine yet). With your talents and interest (outside of the hobby), I'm sure you can find something that would appeal to many that can blend it all.


*I had a couple of female friends in college that sold "their" panties and made a LOT. All they did was put them on their dog. They'd eventually spritz them with perfume; but never wore a single pair and people swore they could smell and taste their puss.

A few years ago, I signed up for this local (amateur) porn site that features this guy (from Garland, I believe) that has sex with all sorts of females and films it.

Fat girls, skinny, old, some REALLY old, seen a few escorts that I've recognized, young'ish, etc.

What was interesting, and I've considered this for my business model, is that I kept forgetting to cancel my membership.

So this guy got about 3 months worth of $35 from me when I didn't really mean to keep the membership.

I bet a LOT of people get involved with those monthly charges and they don't cancel.

Not sure that what I wrote is worth anything, but it's something that I considered.

Don't know if I'm typical, however...credit/paypal charges would be difficult for me to explain to others in the household.

It's much easier for me to pocket and extra 20-40 from regular ATM or debit transactions to supply my hobby stash. Factor in what happened with Ashley Madison and their breach and it's just too risky for me. Card info requires real world info to validate against. With recurring charges, you have to retain that info which increases the risk of breach.

In this hobby cash is king, but that wouldn't really work with what you're proposing.

I think the market is moving way from the membership model and getting content a la cart. Places like Manyvids allows content providers to create single videos for sale one at a time. And I think those places you can find niche kink audiences pretty easily.

The gold standard in this is Wifey, of Wifeys World. They've been around since '98 so they built a lot of their member base when Internet porn was less prominent, but they have a very simple formula. Yeah. I cannot remember the name of the site but it's local. I wonder if he's still doing that site? I'm sure that he is.
