Default THIS ECONOMY BLOWS!!!!

Anyone else sick and tired of this fucking shitty economy???

I sure am.

I consider myself VERY fortunate because I still have my good paying job. However, I have former co-workers have now been out of a job for a little over a year.

Can you imagine being unemployed for a whole year? Is sure can't.

I work in the tech industry so, obviously, most of my friends also work in the tech industry.

All of my friends who have been laid off have been looking for jobs but they are always turned down because they told that they are over qualified for the position.

They cannot even get a menial job (grocery store, book store, etc.) because these businesses fear that as soon as the economy does pick up, the over qualified people they hire will be gone so they will be stuck having to re-hire and re-train someone new.

Granted, I can understand that but… Geez, these people still need to eat.

What brought all of this on?

Today I had lunch with a friend that was laid off (yes, I paid for lunch). We have had lunch here and there a few times during the last year and each time I see him, he seems a little worse. I am not a doctor but I think he now has clinical depression.

He was never like this before so I am somewhat worried about him. He does have a wife, older kids (they are in their early 20's), and relatives in town so I think he has support network but I could tell that he was run down, depressed, and, for a lack of a better phrase, a "little off".

Sorry - just had to rant.

unemployment is bad for all and hopefully it will turn around soon, but the stinky economy has provided some good deals on pussy and has caused some of these girls to get right on the price, JR

My buddy got laid off yesterday... their excuse was his position has been eliminated. Sounds like a bunch of crap to me... Working on the old resume now... just in case....

I know the feeling. Lost my tech job 4 months ago and although I'm not depressed yet, I can feel desperation coming on. I got lucky yesterday when an old employee called me out of the blue and got me a short contract through the company he currently works for, but it's only a month or less of work and I'll be back on the unemployment roles. My job wasn't eliminated, it was shipped to canada. And they still hired a consultant to come in and fix the stuff they broke trying to understand the specialized software they screwed up while trying to figure it out.

I believe it's fake...
The goverment, is setting people up to, have low self esteem.
Then in turn, it creates more, higher paying jobs for them.
