Default Democrats are Racist

The ONLY BLACK SENATOR was NOT invited to the MLK event by the liberals. The Black Senator is with the party that freed the slaves and also fought for equality while the liberals enslaved blacks and now continue to do so with welfare and obamacare.

Default Caroline Kennedy and Selective Memory

They did include Caroline Kennedy whose father and uncle had the FBI all over MLK's sexual escapades to blackmail him as a Communist. Democrats can easily ignore history and facts when it suits political purpose. Current day blacks have no memory of Al Gore's father filibustering to block the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act, nor do they remember Dirksen and Rockefeller (both Republicans) joining forces to break the Democratic filibuster and get them passed. Today's more visible spectacle of Joe Biden's denunciation of Bush 41, threatening to impeach him if he invaded Iraq without Congress' approval, is embarrassing even for a loon like Biden. Hypocrisy thrives when selective memory and spin trump facts.

As has been said many times, liberalism is a mental condition.

You mean there is a black Senator that has refused to stay on the Democrat plantation?
No wonder he was not invited to the victim party. I bet the did not invite Clarence Thomas either.

That liberal establishment managed to take a celebration of one of America's great men and make a mockery of his legacy.

Martin LUther kIng preached a message of self reliance and responsibility, of achievement and self determination.

I am sure he and Barbara Jordan are looking down on the current situation in the Black Community with disdain.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964

The bill divided and engendered a long-term change in the demographics of both parties. President Johnson realized that supporting this bill would risk losing the South's overwhelming support of the Democratic Party. Both Attorney General Robert Kennedy and Vice President Johnson had pushed for the introduction of the civil rights legislation. Johnson told Kennedy aide Ted Sorensen that "I know the risks are great and we might lose the South, but those sorts of states may be lost anyway

Republicans not invited.....wrong..........

Both presidents Bush had bowed out of the event, citing health issues. Speaker of the House John Boehner and House Majority Leader Eric Cantor were both invited, but declined to attend. (Cantor had a meeting with oil lobbyists instead, and Boehner spoke at a Congressional event.) Jeb Bush and John McCain also declined. Moreover, every member of Congress was invited.

The drift from the South being a Democratic stronghold to today's Republican dominated South began in 1948 at the Democratic Convention. President Truman's proposed Civil Rights advancements angered the Southern delegates as it was aimed at Jim Crowe laws and segregation in the Armed Forces. Many of the delegates walked out and held their own convention. A look at the states in the Old South now show a solid red voting block of disaffected Democrats who have found a comfortable home in the Republican Party.

The Dixiecrat Party was formed after 35 Democratic delegates from Mississippi and Alabama walked out of the 1948 Democratic National Convention. These delegates were protesting the adoption of Sen. Hubert Humphrey's (D-Minnesota) proposal of civil rights planks calling for racial integration and the reversal of Jim Crow laws in the party platform. They met in Birmingham, Alabama, and nominated Gov. Strom Thurmond of South Carolina for president. They opposed abolition of the poll tax, while endorsing segregation and the "racial integrity" of each race. Their campaign slogan was "Segregation Forever!" and their platform also included the call for "states' rights."

So, planning a trip to Portland and did a Wikipedia search. Portland, Oregon is one of the most environmentally friendly cities in the world and pretty liberal. The population strongly favors the Democratic party. The Portland delegation to the Oregon legislature is all Democratic. In '08 Portland voted 5 to 1 for Obama. Should be a pretty diverse little city.
In 1849, Oregon banned African American settlement. In the 1920s there was a rapid growth of the KKK. By 1940, Portland was 98% white. WW2 saw an influx of black Americans to work in industry. But after the war, 1/2 the black population left due to police hostility and mortgage and housing discrimination (which continues to this day). Longshoremen of the 60's were completely white and the ILU (International Longshoremans Union) declined to represent grain handlers since some were black. The 80s and 90s saw a growth of radical skinhead groups. By the 2010 census, Portland was still 76% white and 6% black (which is 3 times the state average- for the math deficient that means that Oregon is only 2% black).
I think the south can take some lessons on racism from the enlightened liberal Democrats.
