In which U.S. states is P. a felony right now ?
It changes sometimes + I don't want to research outdated information.
For instance, I know New Orleans had P. as a felony in 2006.
Recently, NOLA switched to P. over to a misdemeanor.
Now, NOLA will try to hit P. people with felony human trafficking charges, as a roundabout way to keep it classified as a felony.
So, can anyone give me a straight forward current answer; regarding the current legal status ?
Where is P. a felony right now ?

SO FAR, I have heard the ILLINOIS went the route of making P4P a felony. + North Carolina and Louisiana have it as a misdemeanor, but they try to hit you with other felony charges, if you are popped ... ANYONE ELSE ? THANK YOU

While your question is a good one and the topic worthy, it's probably too complex to get a really good answer here.

For instance, when I lived in NOLA, it was quite controversial that prostitution (only applied to vaginal sex) but oral and anal sex were classified as "Crimes Against Nature" - a felony. So, you can imagine that this led to questions regarding an equal application of the law since men and lower income women were usually charged as felons (at least after the 2nd offense), while escorts escaped with misdemeanor charges. Additionally, a crimes against nature conviction could require registration as a Sex Offender.

As to whether or not trafficking (or various other) charges could be brought in addition to/rather than P charges, that's something that would vary based on the situation and jurisdiction.

Regarding "tacking on felony charges" for things like human trafficking, the chances are slim that a single female adult escort, working alone will find herself in that situation. It's much more likely they will attempt to find illegal substances, etc., where applicable.

All non-violent felony laws should not exist. It cheapens the word felony. A felon should be someone to be feared, not someone who just did something socially unpopular at a particular time. There is no reason to put a human in a cage for more than a year if they have not seriously injured someone else. America would get by just fine with about 250k people in prisons instead of the 2 million we have now.

I think "Felon" should be a term applied to anyone who does something that harms another either physically, mentally (this one would mean the victim will need therapy for the rest of their life) financially (Enron, etc..)

My friend got busted in N.O. For crime against nature she said she sucked on him about 20 mins before they came to the door.. Then the other cops said we can't let you do this one like that.. I guess meaning he goes all the way.. I don't know but that will mess with your head.. I got popped in Shreveport 3 yrs ago and now Shreveport is my home base.. They have a fed and a state team that bust Shreveport/ bossier area and they donot work together.. When the state popped me he had me jack his pe----- off and told me the D.A. Said he can go all the way to make the bust if he had to... I'm still fighting this case.. Basically your answer to your question is they do what they want to do... Be safe
