Do you honestly believe democrats are “leftists”
The democrats are capitalists, and in any other western style democracy, they would be the center-right party. Do you guys honestly believe the Democrats are leftists, or is this just another cynical rhetorical tool American conservatives used to vilify their political rivals. If it’s the former, we, as a nation are seriously in need of real political education.

I am a Democrat, and I'm center left. And you're right Elmo, in any other western democracy, Joe Biden would be seen as a steadfast centrist.
The problem here is that GOP today is now a far-right cult. So, anything resembling centrism is so far removed from their cult mentality that normal, every day, center left/right Democrats are seen as "leftists" and "extremists". It's truly bizarre.

Do you think gender ideology is left? If so, every Democrat I've encountered has supported gender ideology and transition surgery to minors. But maybe that isn't technically a left issue. It's absolutely supported by the Democratic party.

I personally think most democratic politicians are extreme. Vaccine mandates, the recent boarder policies, soft on crime, bogus gender ideology, relentlessly sending money to Ukraine.. all of these things are extreme to me. But I'm openly very conservative.

Vaccine mandates have been fairly standard for decades. I promise you had to get a litany of vaccines to go to school. It’s only recent right wing political polarization that has made vaccine mandates seem extremist, and it certainly doesn’t fit on the left/right axis.
Immigration also does it fit neatly on the left right axis. Ronald Reagan was far softer on immigration than the contemporary American right. Being anti-immigration, or believing in strong immigration standards is highly nationalist, and nationalism can go either right or left.
Being “soft on crime“ is certainly not right or left. It’s indicative of how authoritarian a society is. It’s hard to be More tough on crime than the communist states.
So-called gender ideology is about the acceptance of bodily autonomy and individual freedoms. Again, neither right nor left.
If you know even one leftist, you would know that they absolutely hate the idea of sending money to Ukraine. Sending money to Ukraine is about preserving the NATO order which is an inherently centrist position.
I don’t know anything about your personal religious affiliation, but your ideology seems to be built around a certain sort of Christian nationalism that is reactionary and some may say, bordering on Fascism. I wanted to be clear that I am not calling you a fascist.

Don't worry, its clear what you are.
The Democratic party in now a cult, and, you are part of that cult.
None of your beliefs above is "Centrist".
"I don’t know anything about your personal religious affiliation, but your ideology seems to be built around a certain sort of Christian nationalism that is reactionary and some may say, bordering on Fascism. I wanted to be clear that I am not calling you a fascist."
Classic passive/aggressive statement, it shows your real intent.
While you do very well making clear your not calling them a fascist, you just called them a fascist.
El-Mo, you have a ducks beak, you walk like a duck, you quack like a duck, and you lay duck eggs, but, I'm not calling you a duck.
Get it?
Again, another post veiled just to allow the leftist minions here to conduct ad hominen attacks against anyone, who disagrees with them.

The fact that you can’t fathom and ideology aside from the team sports approach to Republican/Democrat divide is indicative of your lack of political education and imagination. I hate the Democratic Party slightly less than I hate the Republicans party. My politics are radical, but I am self-aware and politically educated enough to understand that. The modern GOP is radical in the other direction; reactionary, if you will, but have somehow convinced themselves that the centrists are radicals.

Today's Democrat party is clearly centrist, if you're comparing it to any time in U.S. and world history. The only thing that makes Democrats look extreme today is the current GOP. That should tell one the story.

You do realize you are speaking to an AVOWED Libertarian don't you?
Can you separate individuals froma party affiliation, is that such a single indicator of a persons true value, or worth, that its all you need to know, to know who and what they are?
Look at the people who chime in and support your statements, look at the abject hatred they have for anyone who isn't what they think they should be.
That's a lousy fucking place to be, living in a world where you hate someone only because of an R or D, or, who they voted for.
Sad.

I absolutely believe there are only two genders (and very rarely, hermaphrodites). But, if anyone wants to change to the other gender, I don't have a problem with it. Not sure why anyone does.
Every human alive today was birthed by a woman - fact. But if a girl wants to become a guy, or vice versa, that's on them. Have at it.
One example of why I consider myself center left.

This is an interesting question. Democrats are not all leftists though it does seem that portion of the party has grown over the past decade or so. Republicans are not all righteous right-wingers but it seems there is a pretty good size portion of the party that are desperately clinging to those ideals.
We are a nation founded on the idea of Liberty which is ironic since for most of the time America has been a nation a good amount of citizens simply did not share the same level of Freedom as others. Today we battle over abortion, sexuality, and to what level race can be recognized officially. In my opinion those issues take up way too much space inside our heads and allow the media to squirt lighter fluid into an already red hot grill. When we stop pointing fingers and start looking for solutions our nation will be considerably more functional.
