I love the UAE :-) - 105,630$ bill for champagne and red bull
A photograph of a receipt from an AED 387,988 (US $105,630) night-out at Cavalli Club at Fairmont Dubai hotel has become a social-media sensation.
The picture of the receipt suggesting a group of party-goers rang up a bill of AED 387,988 at the club has gone viral on the internet.
How much decadence can it possibly be :-)

Wow, I thought that was your bill there for a moment Nina!
I was thinking - Wow, Nina's such an enterprising woman, now she's in the UAE??!
Well, no, I'm not that surprised. Back when I lived in London I'm sure me and my friends and Arabs rang up huge bills but of course we never paid them (the girls).
In Arabia itself and in a club of course you're going to pay a premium. Arabs like to travel and carouse in packs also.
It would be interesting to see a comparison of the hugest cheques of all time, more interesting if split into countries.
Quite a few times in London (when I lived there) there would be outrageous stories of huge wine bills paid in restaurants (usually along with huge tips), or some outrageous price paid for a truffle.
When it's all being laid out for you it's great!

And take note that the birthday cake wasn't even complimentary. Too funny. I suppose there comes a time when one has so much money, it just doesn't matter how much the bill is. Even if I had that kind of coin, I just can't see myself being comfortable dropping that much for something I probably won't remember.

I see myself very comfortable dropping money for something I don't remember and I'm not even rich - yet!
Actually doesn't everyone do that? You just look at your bank statement and go 'What the hell??' And then you remember.
(Or fight the buggers on the internet who took your money illegally.)

I can't answer that but I do remember reading a study once--maybe in Forbes--about the spending habits of the real self-made wealthy in America. Most were very uncomfortable spending money. They seemed to think that not spending was how they became wealthy in the first place! I suspect they are probably (at least partly) right.

You could if you were a spoiled Arab prince and had never worked a day in your life while daddy collects the "unbelievers" money for their black gold.
If there was ever a better reason for Americans - yes you Canadians and Latinos are Americans too - to drive electric cars, this is it.

One of my expat assignments while working for a well know I-Bank was for 18months in the Middle East - I was based in Bahrain. Unlike my prior assignments in Hong Kong and London, I left my wife and children here in the states - the ME sucks big time - obnoxious displays of wealth, open bigotry and racism, religious hypocrites (you get the picture).... that amount is a drop in the bucket - the scale of wealth is such that it is hard to get your head around it.... I hated it so much that I quit the firm - nothing is worth living in the hell hole that is the ME.....

My ECCIE Reviews

I guess that goes back to the old adage, "if you got it, flaunt it!" apparently these people have it, and are more than happy to spend it. I agree with JDNorthface, most people who are self made tend not to be as whimsical with their money. Most likely because they still remember a time when they had none.

Gosh I'm surprised!
I find inconsistencies everywhere but I think - that's just life. So when I experience a well-funded inconsistency I tend to just enjoy. Partying with Arabs and whomever a case in point.
I've been privy to spending time with a huge diversity of people and the ones where I would walk out the door would have to be child and animal abusers. The others - well, it tends to be interesting.
I've had dinner with, amongst others, a guy who cut off hands (for theft) in Saudi Arabia, a guy who had his kid's kidnappers shot through the head (6 of them - Latin America). I have to say, it's very interesting stuff.
But no I would never sit down with someone like Hitler or Saddam Hussein no matter how fine the champagne.
PS - I stayed in Bahrain courtesy of a Prince - it was the first time I experienced a swimming pool in a living-room and also Japanese food. Wonderful!!

I agree , too. Not that I mind spending money for a great time and luxury as well, but all in , lets say , properly sane amounts.

Well well, there are some like this everywhere, also in the USA we have spoiled brats like that. Or would you say Paris Hilton is a working person? There is huge imbalance in some countries, and some offsprings never had to move a finger... Bills like that are just the outcome of a very idiotic habit, that is not justified by anything except pure lunacy. I mean i get buying expensive houses and stuff, but this? He could have just thrown the money out a window and it would have had the same result. But it shows, in my eyes, that obviously some people don`t ever have financial crisis and need to pay a little more taxes ;-)

Yeah, sadly lamented. And no they didn't invest too much money in women at all - people seldom do.

Paris probably works more than most of these Princes do. At least she has to promote herself in order to get paid to show up at bar and casino openings. Not much of a comparison and certainly not one that imbues either with real worth. I still say that bill is the best endorsement for electric cars I've ever seen.
