My ECCIE Reviews
Default Sandy is a bitch and a half, the likes of which I've never seen.

And I KNOW bitch.

I'm sitting here on the roof looking out a moon filled meadow. I'm talking to my dad on the phone about the storm and the irony of her name (long story and you wouldn't care anyway) when he mentioned to me.... You been really looking at these patterns? This has never happened before. Ever. (fact check me) if it's ever happened before, it was a super long time ago.

I was thinking about scripture and wondering what lay ahead of us when it also came to my realization that the storm (massively unusual and devestating) happens on a full moon, Halloween of 2012. I mean seriously, what are the odds?

It would probably be ugly of me to point out food insurance ain't such a bad thing afterall. But I will reframe from that and just say hey, if you need help or would like me to overnight some MREs, please pm me. You'll get the pound cake because it takes up less weight, you get more calories and shipping is a killer.

Whatever happens, us down here will come running to lend a hand of you need it. Please swear you won't talk politics. Sandy might take one or two more victims.

What happens with the election if the electricity is out for a couple of weeks?

The Dimos will figure some way to use it to try to steal the election. It's just what they do.

The western halves of Pennsylvania and New York will carry the election and that is GOP country. Strange weather happens. About ten years ago the day in Kansas City started at about 50 degrees on the 30th of October. It started to snow about 9 AM. The storm took a circular pattern and continued to orbit the metro area. By rush hour there was 10 inches of snow on the ground and it was still snowing. It snowed until after sundown. The snow was pretty much gone three days later.

Western New York will carry the election? You gotta put down the forbidden topic.

This may be a bad confluence of events and any storm that's hurts people and knocks out power for any period of time is bad but... Is it just me or does it seem that any tropical storm that hits the northeast gets more than it's deserved coverage?

I could know out service for hundreds of thousands and floods could devastate low lying areas on the coast.

But they will have 5-6 days to get their shit back together. Turnout may be lower, but it will be lover for both sides. Obama will still take those states, but with lower total votes for both candidates.

Shouldn't affect Electoral College.

I was wondering if the wingers who hate the government will ask for help if they are hit?

Why not? They have ALREADY paid the taxes for it.

Disaster relief is a PROPER function of government. Disaster relief being narrowly defined so that it is limited to actual natural disasters, not economic turndowns.

Government has too many IMPROPER functions, which is why it is hated by so many on the right.

Runaway entitlement spending is NEVER a proper function of government.

If Obama is re-elected, the end of the world won't be 12/21/12; it will be 11/06/12.

It's going to be expensive because there is such a concentration of people and high-value real estate. But afterwards, will there be calls to abandon New York City after a CAT 1 storm like there were to abandon New Orleans after a CAT 3 storm (Katrina)?

Absolutely. Houston/Galveston could take a force five hurricane, and MSM would give that less coverage than New England getting hit by a tropical storm, that doesn't even qualify as a hurricane.

MSM clearly thinks that liberal states, on the east coast, are more important than the Republican states on the Gulf Coast.
