If you don't like weather, KC is best avoided between November and April.

Otherwise, stay in the KCMO vicinity and enjoy the sights while you are here.

The Plaza/Westport area is probably the best place to stay. Lots of hotels, restaurants and shopping within walking distance. You look like you would do well here. I'd sure sign up.

Agree Stay on Missouri Side. too many issues on Kansas and you will get far less traffic due to it!!

Besides being cut in half by a state line and divided into several counties, KC is chopped up into a bunch of little cities and neighborhoods. It's pretty easy to get around though. We have good highways and boulevards.

You'll need to eat while you're here, so try some BBQ. The best BBQ in the universe is here in a gas station. If you or your friends like fried chicken (who doesn't?!?) then visit Stroud's. If you book at the right hotel*, you'll be able to get a good hamburger next door. Westport is the traditional bar district. Use the Yelp app on your phone to help you find a nice bar and/or some yummy gourmet mac&cheese.

Shopping in KC is mostly the same crap as anywhere else, but you should at least window shop down on the Plaza.
