Talking Texas Vs. California

Hi everyone,

I am new to Texas and was curious what is one thing you can think of that I must try before heading back home to California next week?

For instance if you were to come to CA, I would say somethings you must do is visit a Southern California beach, sip some of Napa Valleys amazing wine or take a stroll across the Golden Gate Bridge..

Any food recommendations that are a must try? Places I have to see?

Love,

Other than great BBQ and Tex Mex- along with no state income tax you are not missing anything.. Oh wait a minute why don't you visit one of the 2 gazillion chuches we have here..If we could replace a few of those with medical marijuana dispenseries if might me a much better place to live..
OK-I am a native Californian so I can be a little biased...

If you like professional sports there is always a team playing: Mavericks, Rangers, Stars, FC Dallas.
Been to the Golden Gate Bridge. Pretty long for a stroll, and we didn't see any jumpers, dang it.

Nosweat, I totally agree on your forbidden topic.

You might have seen some pushers and did not realize it.

I grew up in the KUSH landscape of Colorado.... ))

....knowing that Texas and California are downstream gave a certain sense of satisfaction whenever I heard a toilet flush.....lol kidding kidding I love Texas!

I say shopping here is amazing anywhere you go - especially DFW and Houston! Try the Austin area if you wanna see texas hills, Colorado-esque aromas and trustfunder hippies who suppoprt and contribute to an amazing independent artists scene. Go to North Padre Island if you wanna see off shore oil rigs and seaweed as stacked up four feet high. Then west Texas for good people, good food and good country bars.

All in all, I'd take Texas over Cali any day. But if you want true happiness, go to Colorado

Prolongus,

Glad to see you left the Cowboys off the list of "Pro" sports teams...

The Perot Museum of Nature and Science is new and one of a kind if you're into that type of thing.

Venice Beach and the Getty are worth seeing.

In CA, you sign waivers at hotels agreeing to not to film porn. In TX, you check in and go to your room.

In-N-Out Burgers! Kidding - actually, you can take them back with you. The fad's pretty much fizzled here. But food? Try the ribs at Bakers Rib on Lovers Lane (not the one in Deep Ellum); Mexican food? Try the street tacos at Fuel City Tacos on Riverfront Blvd downtown; Sports? Yep, follow Prolongus's lead - can't add or subtract from that list (both of them); Churches? No comment; Lakes? I'd drive to Texoma for that (about an hour north of Dallas); Beaches? Forget it; Mountains? Nope; Tornadoes? Hang around, you'll get your chance; Cowboys? Mesquite Rodeo (when in season); Just the Cows? State Fair of Texas (not until the fall, though). There's my 6 cents worth.
