Default Half of US Republicans SUPPORT President Obamas proposal to raise the minimum wage

Even though House Teapublicans continue to oppose EVERYTHING proposed by the President (except of course the sequester, if you buy the irrelevant whiners out there), recent studies indicate overwhelming support for it, including 50% among Republicans and nearly 70% among independents.

This comes from the Wall Street Journal and cites a poll by USA Today/Pew ... Neither of which are bastions of liberal thinking ...

Maybe YOUR representatives AREN'T really interested in the will of the people who elected them after all.

Poll: Strong Support for Raising Minimum Wage

By Tim Hanrahan

A strong majority of Americans favor President Barack Obama‘s proposal to raise the minimum raise, according to a new poll. Among Republicans, by a slim margin, more support the move than oppose it.

In the poll from USA Today/Pew Research Center, 71% of Americans back increasing the minimum wage to $9 an hour from $7.25 currently, with 26% opposed. The plan, introduced by Mr. Obama in his State of the Union address, has 87% support among Democrats and 68% support among independents. Among Republicans, 50% back the measure, with 47% opposed.

People who identified themselves as agreeing with the tea party opposed the minimum wage measure 64% to 32%.

President Obama’s plan would raise the minimum wage and link additional increases to inflation. As we noted last week, the idea has met resistance among Republican lawmakers, who worry that it would add costs to businesses, which would then hire fewer workers.

On other issues, the poll asked which legislation was crucial for the president and Congress to act on this year. Deficit legislation led the pack, with 70% calling it essential, followed by immigration, at 51%, and gun legislation, at 46%. Climate change got 34%.

The survey polled 1,504 adults and was conducted Feb. 13-18.

USA Today not liberal??? You ARE stupid Whatzup. Gannet is USA Today and Gannet is very liberal.

Why even bring this up? Do you really want to go down the road of polls to determine national policy? Remember most people (according to the polls) object to government health, gun control, the direction the country is going, and the debt is number one concern of the American people but Obama thinks that we don't have a spending problem.

Again, you post about what Obama thinks. cheap and mindless dodge. You gotta do better than that to make your point. My point in this post is that the asshole obstructionists who oppose everything presented by POTUS are WRONG on this one.

With the story, I am simply pointing out that the GOP leadership is totally out of touch with what's left of its base. The story appeared in WSJ... You gonna call that liberal, too?

LETS MAKE IT REAL SIMPLE:

do you favor or oppose raising the minimum wage?

Too bad, you screwed the pooch. YOU brought up USA Today, I didn't. Live with it! YOU pointed out a poll that says half of the GOP (you never said rank and file or leadership) support an OBAMA policy. Why are you arguing with yourself Whatzup? You act just like Obama. Anyway, will you go to Obama and tell him to cease and desist on all the things the American public doesn't want him to do? There is so much.

I think we all know (borrowing a page from Obama) that raising the minimum wage costs the country jobs.

No pooch screwed, asshole, not at all. what about WSJ? You didn't answer my question on that "liberal" Murdock rag, did you?

I simply posted the story, VERBATIM. Provided the link. And added my take.

Obviously you didn't read the story. Your only argument is that you believe USA Today is a liberal newspaper and that I fucked up by calling them NOT liberal. I'd call them moderate on their best day; right leaning more than not. that's my take. so what of it?

So I suppose your answer is: NO! I DO NOT SUPPORT RAISING THE MINIMUM WAGE.

Thanks for playing. NEXT!
