Liberal Fraticide
The liberals running San Fransisco and the union at BART are at each others throats.
The union, big surprise, wants more money for less work. They have threatened to strike, but the liberals in San Fransisco don't want to lose their beloved mass transit. So, fruitcake crazy boy Gov. Jerry Brown has stepped in and forced a 60 day cooling off period.
Maybe the liberals are getting smart enough to realize you can't pay everyone 100 grand a year with benefits and massive pensions, unless they earn it. Personally, I hope they have a 300 day strike and riots. It will be real entertaining watching that on the TV, gay cops beating up gay train conductors while BMW driving housewives leave their one child with the Mexican nanny to picket and show support for their "fellow" working class heroes who only want a living wage.
If it wasn't for the weather, nobody would pay taxes and live there.

Liberalism just doesn't work. One group will impact another group and both groups will attempt to claim the moral high ground meaning the other group is evil. A fun example is the old Dharma and Greg show. An elderly Indian (native American for some of you) showed up on the roof of their building. He was there to die. Dharma took the old man to a restaurant where he lit up a pipe (of tobacco). The waiter said it was against the law to smoke but Dharma countered that those laws did not apply to a NATIVE AMERICAN. That this was his land and he could do as he liked. This rocked the waiter who went for help. In the meantime, Dharma's parents were trying to decide which way to throw their support, the native American or the non smoking elite?
I just thought this was funny.

Yeah ... The only path to success is by blocking ALL paths.
But at least you sourced a Dharma and Greg episode!

Absolutely, the liberal dilemma - if everyone who disagrees with you is evil or crazy, you really need to kill off any liberal who disagrees with you.

those two remarks are at the heart of the union/ government employee problem and thus our problem
in the free market.the way you raise your income is to EARN IT... make money for you or your employer..provide a great service or product with the fewest employees possible..working hard, redoubling your own efforts, working more and working later...more money falls to the bottom line..you get more money
now the problem with unions is their indolence..they want both less personal effort, more workers not less, less hours of work, more breaks and time off, but also more money and benefits for themselves...divorced from any economic law
these two competing desires, running in opposite directions, less work, more money... will eventually run afoul of natural law....the dichotomy and its effect may be masked for a time by the power to tax or the ability to run deficits or until a private company's treasury is finally depleted..but reckoning will happen
unions are democrat for a reason, they both want all they can get while they are getting it, to hell with anything else..

Cisco laid off 4000 workers despite the fact revenue climbed 6.2 percent to $12.42 billion from $11.69 billion ... Work hard for the company, bust your ass to increase their profit margin ... all that glitters is not gold.

There is one important caveat; the company has to know how valuable you are. That they would rather have you working for them than working for someone else.

in a small company it will be evident..in a larger one it is more difficult to stand out..but if you make your immediate boss look good, he will want you to keep doing that..
but even in large companies whole divisions or departments face risk..and changing markets...so there never is nor should be..some guarantee of position...the vagaries of competition, supply, demand and all manner of a dynamic changing environment cause dislocation. progress is never served by a static guarantee

Well, at least Dharma is more interesting than their infantile musings about liberalism and the free market. Knuckleheads.
