The guy was kicked out of an Atlantic City casino because he was only 20. The cops stopped him on the street and searched and questioned him.

Then they let him walk away. He crossed the street, turned around and mouthed off at the cops for about a minute and a half.

Then, the cops came after him and gave him a beat down. It was bad enough when they kept kicking and batoning him while he was curled up on the ground.

But the coup de grace was when a canine cop showed up, jumped out of his car with the dog, called the other FIVE cops off the kid, and then let the dog loose on the back of his head and neck. There was absolutely no need for the dog to be set loose. The guy was already on his belly and under control of five cops that were standing or kneeling on him. The dog was just used to inflict pain.

It took over 200 stitches to close up what the dog did to his head. The pictures are grotesque.

He resisted the cops at first when the first 4 tackled him. But most of the time, he apparently "resisted" by curling up in the fetal position to protect himself, instead of lying flat so they could get better shots at him.

Somebody needs to be fired. The canine cop, at the very least. He has already had 15 complaints for abuse file against him (ALL dismissed) and has another 4 still pending. But this time there is video.

The sad part about this is, this has just become common place now with most police. The police are so poorly trained now, and so many have their own psychological problems this is the result. No accoutability either. The parents are suing them, the mayor concedes its disturbing and unjust, yet none of the cops will be arrested for their actions. The taxpayer foots the bill on the lawsuit.

The whole incident is totally unjustified. From all the threads posted lately on the subject of Police Brutality it totally amazes me how Police Officers totally disregard their training and jeopardize their careers. The K-9 Officer pisses me off the most. Not only did he allow his dog to relentlessly maul the shit out of this kid but I would consider it cruelty to an animal as well, exposing the dog to unjustified violence. Police K-9 Dogs are used in tracking and detaining dangerous suspects, entering buildings and for crowd control, not what we saw on this video. What a pity. Good cops take a lot of flack from this type of shit too.

Costellani wasn't obeying orders; particularly when they had him on the ground and trying to cuff him...he was keeping a hand hidden in his waist belt............that is why the officers backed off and let the dog take over.

The amount of force used was appropriate according to CNNs expert.

Are AC cops allowed to use Tasers?

What video did you watch? Where do you see his hand hidden in his waist belt?

In the video, right as the canine cop gets there, his left palm is down on the ground next to his shoulder, like he is about to do a push up. His right arm isn't visible. So where do you see a hand in his waist band?

And, in case you have forgotten, the cops just searched him across the street, so they know he isn't armed.

So, tell us again why you think it was OK to let the police dog use the back of his head like a chew toy.

From the CNN video YOU posted; "one hand behind his back"........

The video report only shows the the guy emptying his pockets; how do you know they did a through search ?

"the cops know he isn't armed"..............fucking idiot statement...do you know for a fact that the cops did a pat down search ?

Answer: You don't. And the police don't know what he is carrying concealed !

You can't SEE his right hand. How do you know it is under his stomach? How do know it isn't palm down on the ground the same as his left hand? Are you just making stuff up?

There is no audio. How do you know what the cops are yelling? Maybe they are yelling contradictory things, like "Arms out" and "Hands behind your back". Again, are you just making stuff up?

As the CNN reporter stated, they had one arm behind his back (his left) and were about to cuff him when the canine cop showed up.

At that point, they all stopped and got off him so the dog could tear into him. Why didn't they just finish cuffing him?

And why do you show deference to the CNN "expert"? He is a former cop and one suspects he may be supporting the thin blue line, no matter what.

They also cited another expert - the law professor from John Jay College - who called it excessive use of force. The professor also stated the bleeding obvious: Letting the dog rip into the guy's neck was completely unnecessary and a potentially lethal use of force. Why don't you cite the professor?

Standard police protocol yelling at the suspect to put hands behind back; for cuffing....

If anyone is making shit up, it is you....you asserted they "searched" the suspect implying it was impossible for the suspect to have a concealed weapon. Talk about making shit up....there was no search of the suspect on the video....the video did show the suspect turning his pockets inside out, voluntarily...that is NOT a police search.

The suspect was on his stomach, the police got one hand out and in back, they were struggling to get the second (right hand) free to cuff him; the suspect was resisting..........canine showed up and got the suspect to comply with police orders....

Like the CNN police expert said = appropriate use of force.

This is to be expected. The average IQ of a police officer is 103. This is around the average IQ of the general public. This is the average which means there does exist a significant number of police officers who have an IQ of less than 103. A Federal Court ruling upheld a police department excluding people who are too smart from being considered for employment.

The 2nd US Circuit Court of Appeals judged that the city of New London did not discriminate when they rejected Robert Jordan's application, because everyone who took the test was evaluated by the same standards.
Jordan scored 33 points in the test, equating to an IQ of roughly 125. New London police interview only candidates who score between 20 and 27, "on the theory that those who scored too high could get bored with police work and leave soon after undergoing costly training"
