Interesting Gun History
A buddy of mine sent this email to me. I thought I would share it.
A LITTLE GUN HISTORY
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. >From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated
------------------------------
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
---- ------------- -------------
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
------------------------------
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
-----------------------------
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
------------------------------
You won't see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it's too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are 'citizens'. Without them, we are 'subjects'.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
If you value your freedom, please spread this anti gun - control message to all of your friends.
The purpose of fighting is to win.
There is no possible victory in defense.
The sword is more important than the shield, and skill is more important than either.
The final weapon is the brain.
All else is supplemental.
SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND 'S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
IT'S A NO BRAINER!
DON'T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.

Not just a firearm phenomenon; I've read that bans on longbows and then crossbows in medieval Europe led to rampant criminality and oppression by the rulers. Wilhelm Tell in Switzerland strapped on his crossbow, I think, in defiance of the Big Swiss Cheese.
The Democrats seem to have gotten the message that direct attacks on 2nd amendment just blows back all over their sorry asses....so now they're using indirect approach to disarming law-abiding American citizens; viz., treaty obligations, "harmonization" with foreign law, all that crap. You can never relax around those fuckers.
...and don't leave home without Roscoe.

"Historians" seem to forget (or may be just don't know) that during the Japanese occupation of China approximately (some have said a conservative estimate) 150 million ... yes that's MILLION ... Chinese were killed by the Japanese after being placed in "concentration camps," and used for various "experiments" when not forced into labor ....
So, I suppose the number in China ought to be 170 million after 1935.

Which is the reason why we did not invade Japan. They were armed, too!
We opted for the bombs.

I couldn't agree more, Spike. She's a bona fide Red Diaper Baby; I wish some member of the Senatorial judicial committee would ask her about that. If you've ever met one bien-pensant Red Diaper Baby, trust me...you've met them all. They have less diversity of thought than a colony of syngeneic lab rats have.

SCOTUS overturned the Chicago gun ban yesterday in a 5-4 decision thus upholding the second amendment as an individual right. What's frightening is that it was a 5-4 decision.

The reason the decision was so close is that it went beyond federal jurisdiction. The Washington D.C. ban was a no-brainer, D.C is federal territory and federal law applies. In Chicago it was less clear, there is the question of the state and local government's ability to regulate the 2nd amendment. In one sense, this ruling is a victory for 2nd amendment advocates. In another, its a loss for those who despise the increasing spread of federal/centralized government.

I kind of understand your point but based on the 10th amendment the state or local authorities have no jurisdiction. That is what this ruling upheld.
I too cringe with every defeat of states rights but I don't see this particular ruling as an infringement.

Maybe I could understand a 5 to 4 verdict FOR...if the case had been about the rights of American citizens to bear arms in, say, Italy, as well as aboard commercial aircraft.
It's gotten to where I hate going anywhere I'm not allowed to tote.
