Actually this is a serious issue that plays into the stereotypical fallacy about objectification. If this passes it won't be long before this becomes law the world over. All media and free speech could be effected.

It's not legally binding, it is very doubtful it will get a majority. The only impact it will have is more fuel to the anti European brigade, whose numbers seem to be grwing in many EU countries.

However, Iceland is proceeding with some legislation.

Let's be clear, there is pornography and pornography. There is, apparently, already an agreement between ISP's to ban sites which deal with the kind of pornography I can't mention here. Very good thing too.

What kind of porn Iceland or this proposal is legalising against I have no idea.

Freedom of speech also includes responsibility.

Don't be under any illusion that this represents a broad European attitude.

I remember in the years after the fall of Franco, I had a spanish gf, and one of the main changes was that weekly colour magazines had gorgeous full page spreads of topless girls. My gf had a friend who was training to be a nun, and she didn;t seem to mind a bit.

I remember, this trainee nun, we were in Salamanca just after Easter, she said 'today is a day of celebration', and when I asked her why, she said that it was the day the prostitutes, who had to leave the city during Lent, were allowed back in, so everybody was happy and rejoicing.

Civilised country. The men are happy, the prostitutes are happy and the wives are happy.
