Default When hobby world and real world collides...

So I was running slightly late..took forever to find parking.. went thru airport security hastle only to find out my flight was slightly delayed.. Whewww!.. what a relief as I had a few minutes to kill now and wanted a bite. Went thru the usual parade of food court goodies and settled for some pizza and got in line.. Quickly noticed this rather attractive girl at the front of the line.. dark hair exotic looker and curves in all the right places. She turned a bit and got a quick glance of her very pretty face. I was like "wow".. what a babe! She caught my eye looking and smiled. Then it hit me that she looked awfully familiar..as my place in line got closer to the counter, I looked up and thought hard about where I remembered her woman from.. damn.. it was really bugging me to no end! The cutie paid for her lunch and headed for her gate.. meanwhile, I ordered and continued to wonder how I could forget such a face..then low and behold.. my memory banks finally connected and remembered that she was a provider I saw from a few weeks back. It's amazing that when I'm not in hobby mode, I tend not to quickly remember (perhaps subconsciously) providers.. especially when they are in their civilian clothing going about their normal business. I quickly walked to the direction of the provider and saw her in the far distance running to catch her gate as her flite was apparently boarding. Obviously, she was on to the next destination. Not sure if she remembered who I was and didn't really care, but I just found it interesting that I'd run into people this way (not a surprise, but just interesting).

I wanted to write this to take a poll from both providers and hobbyists alike if they have had similar experiences with run-ins with former clients and/or providers. Was it uncomfortable for you? Were you with friends/family? Do tell!

A provider was right behind me in line at HEB a couple of weeks back. I hadn't seen her BCD, but I recognized her from her face pics. Haven't spotted anyone I've actually seen out and about.

Probably not a good idea to approach a provider or a client from the hobby world period when paths cross in daily life. A smile of acknowledgment is enough and even that should be exercised with extreme caution as you don't know who they might be with. Why have to explain how you know one another? Not to mention she likely wants normalcy in her daily life. We aren't talking about attn. starved celebs. If you are 50+ balding and overweight living a normal guy life and she is a "10" dancer/model type I doubt the Mrs. or GF will buy "she is a friend."
For the provider I am guessing that "Work is work" and should be left at the office. For the client "Fantasy is Fantasy" and should never be mixed with reality as it can tarnish both.
IMHO

It is indeed a very small world we live and play in....

Before building my home in the counrty outside of Austin, the house next door to me went into foreclosure and I ended up purchasing it. I renovated it and put it on the market myself. One gentleman was very interested and wished to bring his wife over the next evening to view the house.

They arrived the next evening, stepping out of their car; introductions were made, and I was shaking the hand of a well known provider whom I have visited with.

We toured the home; she asked questions, loved the house, and they wanted to go home and think about the house. The entire time was conducted as if we had never met before; as it should be.

As I travel fequently, I have run into providers in many airports both here in the States as well as abroad. And it is always my rule to never stare or hold eye contact, walk on by, whether the lady was alone or with other people, and then I smile to myself as I walk on by and think, "hmmn, damn small world....."

Default Bound to happen sooner or later..

Great input Gents! I agree that the best approach is to NOT approach. As with Scissors.. did the couple make an offer? Wow..that would have been interesting having these folks as your neighbors!

Not hobby-related, but I have looked at a home for sale once and considered making an offer (but decided against it later).. a month later, I had dinner with a colleague visiting from out of town and as a favor dropped him off his buddy where he was staying at.. surprisingly, his buddy lived next door to the house I considered buying.. what a small world we live in! The buddy ended up being a colleague. Colleague or not, I probably would have hated being next door to folks I deal with on a business level.

LOL. What sucks is when you become paranoid that people are recognizing you and start attributing profound meaning to otherwise careless gestures or mannerisms.

I've always wondered...if you see a hobby person out and about in real life and you (of course) treat them as a stranger even though you recognize them...do you then email that hobby person at their hobby email saying you saw them and kinda laughing about it with them? If someone spots me in my natural habitat I'd get a little kick out of getting an email to my hobby email saying where they saw me. It'd be creepy if the same person kept seeing me everywhere but other than that it might be amusing. Then again, I'm pretty easily amused.

Indeed Emily but I'm guessing the key difference is that they address you After the fact back in the safety of hobby land with PM's where your personal life is not affected in anyway.

Bundy; alas, the couple did not purchase the house; if they did, I would have commenced digging the tunnel from my backdoor to hers the following day!

Emily; you bring up an interesting observation from a female prospective.....

Do the Ladies feel somewhat " on guard " as you go about your daily personal business around town?

And yes, I have recieved a couple of e-mails from chance encounters at airports; usually along the lines of " was that crazy running into you or what!"

I can't speak for all of the ladies but I know that I feel a bit vulnerable when I'm just hanging out in Austin because it's a kinda small city...I'm sorta shy and I don't think I stand out much in "real" life so if someone is making a lot of eye contact with me while I'm in Austin or winking at me or smiling in what my paranoid brain percieves to be a "knowing" way then yeah it puts me on edge. It's the uncertainty and the "did they or didn't they recognize me" that drives me crazy!
So anyone...if you see me feel free to wink or smile or whatever but then at your earliest convenience please send me an email saying "Yea, I saw you today at the post office mailing out letters and stuff like a normal person" that way I can know for sure that I was spotted and not just be WONDERING off and on FOREVER and subjecting non-hobby people that are just casually smiling to my delusions. LOL.

Emily based upon your showcase I bet you stand out much more than you realize in public. You're hotter than your average bear .

ive been spotted twice!

the 1st was when i first entered the hobby. had exchanged a few emails with a gent, however i wasnt newbie friendly at the time. went out with friends to a bar, and he was there (i didnt know that then)...i noticed this guy staring at me the WHOLE night, but i had never seen my potential "boyfriend" before so had no clue. after the bar, i get an email telling me he saw me out, and would like to know if id see him. lol and if i wouldnt, he asked, if my (civie) friend was a (newbie friendly) provider!! lol too funny!!!

another time, i was downtown...there was a huge college football game going on. im out with friends, and this group of guys was offering to buy me drinks, etc. they were a rowdy crowd, so i declined any drink offers. out of no where, one of them ask..."is your name amaya?" ...lol silly me, says no. (im with my civie friends. and its obvious the attn theyre giving me.) as im walking off, i hear a few of them shouting for amaya to come back. boy was i embarassed!!!

So far it's just happened once to me. I was at Whole Foods during Christmas time and had a relative with me visiting. I looked up and saw a gent I had just seen a couple of weeks before and I immediately looked the other way. He was alone but still yet I wasn't about to go up and say hi. I'm all about being discrete. I do stand out in a crowd because of my hair amongst other things, so when I want to be on the real DL, out comes the baseball cap and glasses.

Default from a guys pov

its kinda tough. a girl like emily guys like us dream and fantasize about everyday of our lives. on the odd chance we run across a woman this beautiful that we have be fortunate enough to be intimate with its gotta be impossible not to stare whether we realize or not.come on whats the odds of being in an airport or wherever your walking with your s.o or family / friends and you see the best looking woman, the kind every man dreams about and you have just had wild sex with her in the last few weeks. how do you keep your eyes off her. how do you not start trembling, beathing a little heavy heart racing a little faster. maybe someone else has the answers.
