The same tests should be applied to people running for office. It would weed out the vast majority of them.

this may well have been the basis for the movie "Money I & II" which is about a talented, but ruthless Wall St. operator.

Remember the words of Goldwater; he said never elect someone who has wanted to be president since they were very young. They will tailor every move, every word, every action with a thought to how it will look to potential voters. See Bill and Hillary Clinton. We don't know enough about Obama's childhood to say what he wanted.

Working Units
I've worked with some pretty cold blooded people.
One of them told me not to think of people as "people", but merely as "working units". Damn!
. . . I don't think you can reason with them, but sometimes you just need to deal with them . . . somehow.

The ideal President is the guy who doesn't want the job. It reminds me of the scene from Gladiator where Ceasar is trying to talk Maximo into becoming the new leader after his death. Maximo turns him down, he says he just wants to go home and be with his family. Ceasar tells him that's exactly why he must be the new leader.
George Washington was offered kingship after the revolutionary war; he turned it down. He also didn't want a third term. We need another Washington, I don't see one in the current mix.

I think all elected offices should be filled by lottery of all "actual" tax payers, similar to jury duty, doubt we'd be worse off, and the bills would be easier to read and understand.

Clear Choice
No, a lottery system would never work.
This country needs leaders who are motivated, dedicated and have the vision to lead the country and have the courage to suffer the slings and arrows of high office and cerebral enough to sift through all the noise and bullshit and grasp the essence of the moment.
We have had leaders who were too motivated by greed and power such as Nixon.
The best leader this country has had in generations is President Obama and I believe he will win re-election in November.
The contest will be between Romney and President Obama.
. . . The choice in November will be stark and clear.
Do we continue digging ourselves out of the hole Bush left us in or do we return to his failed policies?

Good god, FG. Nixon would be proud and jealous of Obama's lies and deceit. And if you hadn't noticed, the hole is getting deeper, no one is digging out, we're digging in. It's getting worse. Bush's policies failed, yes. Obama's policies are failing, yes. Romney has no policy except to continue Bush and Obama's failed policies.
And let's not forget the power of the President to indefinitely detain citizens at his will, with no judicial review. Nixon would have LOVED that! What other great leaders have had that power? Uh, Stalin. Hussein. Pol Pot. The Shah. Notice that Churchill, Kennedy, Gandhi and people like them aren't on the list. Which list is better?
You're too far gone to help, I just hope the others here can see things more objectively.

Good job, Wave. Let's judge an 18th Century statesman by using 21st Century values. I knew George Washington, and he was a good guy. Beat him at poker several times.

Modus Operandi
Your judgment is off-kilter as usual, cog, but then you are at least, consistent.
Your modus operandi is and remains simply stirring up shit.
. . . Is there really nothing else for you to do at the rest home?
