So sad that all the vets of that day are almost all gone. I've been lucky enough to be the recipient of several personal conversations with some of those guys. They are "the greatest generation", indeed.

True enough Bbk,my dad flew B17's , was involved in fire bombing of dresden and berlin, never talked much about it, or his friends that flew with him. The only thing they would say a lot of brave men never came home.

Three out of four of my grandparents were WWII vets. Even though they were black and we know.how it was back.then they always give a sense of pride when.they talked about serving. I'll never fully appreciate it but i thank all servicemen.

I caught a flight back to Austin this morning and sat next to 92 year old WW II Vet. The guy had an amazing memory, right down to the names of Japan's ships and their class.

Indeed, they were a great generation!
