Default technology is something

I've always said someday we would live like The Jetsons cartoon, looks like it'll be sooner than I really thought

were any of the jetson's flying cars self-flying cars?
i dont remember.

even if autonomous vehicles/self-driving cars are everywhere, i dont trust them.
computer software is pretty amazing, but they cant be programmed to anticipate every possible driving/traffic condition. there will be accidents, some minor, some major w/ deaths. just like now w/ people driving vehicles.
the only thing they wont be doing is "driving while intoxicated", at least we hope.

from the youTube description:
"Get ready to see some white lights joining the red, yellow, and green party on the traffic lights! It would signal to drivers of autonomous vehicles (AVs). The white light should help them manage the upcoming intersection of traffic flow intelligently. The thinking is that both traffic congestion levels and overall fuel consumption could be reduced. The cars and trucks that are driving themselves won't need to 'look' at the white traffic light, because they'll be communicating with it wirelessly. "

Fun rabbit hole when your bored, very bored.
The Jetsons are in the future. But so are the Flintstones, just post apocalyptic. They are in the stoneage but have modern technologies. I think in 1 episode the Jetsons go to the future and find the Flintstones.
Not my fictional rabbit hole but it's there. I didn't make the hole I just follow the rabbit.

With AI tech, cars and the network will constantly learn and optimize the system. Biggest hurdle for me is mixing Non connected cars with connected cars. I see they are trying but seems to me they need to put an identifer on all non connected cars.

There will be accidents and deaths, but I'm betting on the total numbers of these will drop to 1/4 to 1/2 of what it is today. Media will pound them and air every crash and death like they do with Tesla fires. Reality is like Tesla fires which burn down far less per car than ICE cars, automated cars will have far fewer crashes.

Now I want to see them navigate 12" of snow.

As for the Jetsons driving cars, they had little spaceships.

The autonomous car will help the blind and handicapped. It could get drunks out from behind the wheel. Still I wouldn't hold my breath. Cities have problems with water, sewer, trash, crime and roads. They wouldn't have the funds for the new infrastructure. The Federal government is just about bankrupt. As far as the self repairing concrete, it has existed for over 2000 yrs. Roman concrete has been studied. They have determined that their recipe had self repairing ingredients. The reason why many of the Romsn works have stood the test of time. I could see self parking garages only for advanced cars. That is the free market at work. Flying cars. Well at that price, only the 1% would have one. Then only if approved by the FAA.
