Alicia Keys Plans New Version of The National Anthem
Alicia Keys will sing The National Anthem on Super Bowl Sunday, she says it will be totally different. I guess we will have to wait and see how totally different she means. I do hope she does not change the Lyrics.
I have mixed feelings about this. If you have ever visited The Smithstonian, you have seen the exibit where they give a history of Francis Scott Key's poem and how it was made into The National Anthem. Also, you can here the different musical adaptations through the years. What we sing now, (the tune), is quite different from what has been sung in the past.
We have all seen the Anthem done to perfection, and done to horror. I suppose the worst rendition I ever saw was when Carl Lewis, the great Olympian, sang it. Somebody should have told him that this was not a good idea.
One of the best I can rememeber was Meat Loaf. He did the song proud. He sung it in a key that wade that note on "free" in the end a high A#

The biggest change that I can remember was when Whitney Houston did the Anthem in 4/4 time rather than the 3/4 that we all have become accustom too. I really prefer the 4/4 time version better. Or maybe I just liked the way she did it.
What ever Miss Keys does with it, I do hope that she does it in a manner that honors our Country and gives all in the audience a sense of what it means to be an American.

I hope she doesn't mess with it, either.
But it will be hard to beat Marvin Gaye's interminable cluster fuck version of the anthem.

She should get Jeremiah Wright, Obama's pastor of twenty years, to rewrite the lyrics to "God Bless America."

Joe Bloehard is the consummate Anti-American on this board. also the biggest BRAT. If it isn't his way, he hits the high notes like a bitch who got her clit caught in the zipper.
I do not expect Joe to know what a zipper or a clit are however.

Alicia Keys is:
- quite pretty
- a terrible actress (saw her in that bees film, spent all my time with my finger up a new girl next to me, she was very wet and tight)
- a terrible pianist (she tries to play Debussy Arabesque no1, a very plodding performance)
- a nice body, if you could get past the gps
No, even I don't fancy her at all.
Now kelly, different story.....

Extraordinarily pretty face. Like a cosmetics model.
But she is way too chunky below the waist. The body doesn't match the face.

Wouldn't have figured her for a DeBussy lover but then you never know. Not surprised she didn't play that piece well. It seems a challenging work, at least to this non-player. If you like DeBussy's Arabesques there's a recording by Philippe Entremont that also contains the best rendition of Claire de Lune I have ever heard. I know that's really an old war horse but Entremont's phrasing is spectacular.

You sir are a worthless racist piece of shit.
Scanning through your past posts and, ahem, review, you really haven't brought much to the table so far. Perhaps hate isn't a great place to start.

I assume this is her in the middle section, and if so, you can see why i say she is an awful pianist.

Not beating my own drum, but I won a piano competition at the age of 14 playing Claire de Lune. Well, maybe i am beating my own drum.

This is a valid interpretation
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtsKnpQIe_s
a lot of intricate rubato, but very natural, you can feel his breathing and body movements,
as is this
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s2u6hzMZg-M
I learnt the Chopin etudes and ballades through vasary
See the difference between real pianists and wannabes like AK?
Even Vasary's major rit at 2:57 is so exquisitely timed. Perfection.
Alicia de Larrocha has a recording on youtube, which is also quite fast, and wonderful, but not quite as 'simple' as the above two.

Phenomenol. About the most difficult piece ever written, he makes it glisten.
