Default Each electric Fisker car cost US taxpayers $557,000, Company now nearly bankrupt

I know. Obama was behind this, so it must have been a good thing, regardless of how it turned out. But FYI:

I think Justin Bieber has a Fisker, and at least one of the guys from Kings of Leon has one too. Fiskers are a rock star kind of vehicle, sleek, fast (for a short distance,) and expensive. But the $103,000 sticker price isn’t even close to the entire cost of the car.

All told, each Fisker Karma has $660,000 of taxpayer money sunk into it. There is no better use of money than massive subsidation of vehicles created for the super wealthy.

(From Bloomberg)

The Energy Department, which has had to defend its loan guarantees to failed solar-panel maker Solyndra LLC, gave Fisker its loan primarily to acquire and restart production at a closed GM plant in Delaware, the home state of Vice President Joe Biden, who attended the press conference announcing the venture. The company forecast it would create 2,500 jobs, according to a project summary still posted on the Energy Department’s website.

Activity at the Delaware plant stopped last year and no cars have been made there.

Well, COG, some of that money probably made it into some liberal politician's pocket, so as far as the liberals are concerned, that is a good use of government money.

I really, R E A L L Y, hate to keep correcting the idgets that somehow forget the facts of timelines and spin the truth to fit their agenda, assuming they are smart enough to have a agenda ..

anyway here I go again ..

[Fisker received a loan guarantee from] the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program through the Energy Department. And it's not funded by Obama's stimulus bill -- otherwise known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. It is, in fact, a program signed into existence by President George W. Bush in 2007 and first funded by legislation Bush signed in 2008.
The program was designed to support development of advanced technology vehicles.
The Bush administration was in charge when the automaker filed its application. The Obama administration was in charge when the company's loan was approved. The stimulus bill had nothing to do with it. [Politifact, 4/26/12

yes, Obie handed out the loan, but Bush made taxpayer $$ available for the loan.

So, CBJ7, Obama should be given a pass for handing out the money, because that is what Bush would have done. Good thinking. True Obamatic response.

You know, you should try thinking for yourself sometime. You might enjoy it.

Default You can't pick all winners

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The chief executive of electric car maker Tesla Motors says his company plans to pay back an Energy Department loan in half the time required by the government.
CEO Elon Musk said Tesla plans to pay off the $465 million federal loan in five years, rather than 10 years. Musk made the comment Tuesday at a summit on energy innovation, where he appeared on stage with Energy Secretary Steven Chu and defended the Obama administration's clean energy program.
