Scheduling Nightmare. Tourist season or general flakiness?

Although this is my first post, I'm not a noob. I've been in the hobby for a while. I am a low volume guy looking for quality and I was operating in bigger cities. I never really needed to post. I am however new to the area and this is my first tourist season.

This past weekend, I just experienced the weirdest and by far the worst scheduling nightmare for a session ever. The weird part is that this isn't the first time with this provider. I've been with her over the winter and it was a great session. I really liked her and I wanted to schedule a longer session with her this go around.

I tried to set things up early, about a week ago. She suggested a time, and I chose Thursday. Didn't get back to me until late night Thursday, apologized for missing the message and we set up Friday after work. No confirmation on Friday, but I hung around the area. At 6:30, I get a text apologizing with an excuse and we setup for 10. Even gave me the location of a hotel in FWB. Of course 10:30 goes by, I was at the venue, but I get a text for "be there in 10 minutes". No shows again, so I leave at 11. At 1AM, I get another text apologizing for her phone going dead, offers a discount and I said let's talk on Saturday.

On Saturday, she says she can be in Destin in 1 hour and wee setup a time for 5. Traffic was really horrible for Saturday too. She gave me her address and I was there on time. She said she was stuck in traffic and had to take the long way to Destin. I even went somewhere to burn some time. By 6:30, my phone ran out of juice and I had to go. Right when I get home and got power to my phone again, she text again, apologizing and we reschedule to 11PM. As 11PM goes by, of course I don't hear from her. However, at 1:30AM, I get another text saying she's available. By then I had been long asleep.

It's Sunday and I'm not leaving my house, no matter what.

I don't want to name the provider, so let's leave that part out of the conversation. I don't want to play that blame game or drama. I do want to ask tho. Is this:

1) Tourist season and bad traffic in Destin? I was stuck and it was pretty bad traffic as well, which is why I understood the situation. I should try again in September.

2) Par for the course for the area? I've noticed that time a relative thing here in Florida. It's not an exact science.

3) This is just a flakey provider. I should just try another one.

What do you guys think? I've had no shows before, but this one was just weird. I've met her before and she knew me, yet this crap just happened.

PM me the name of the provider and I will see if I can help you understand better. Having said that:

1) Yes, summer traffic is HORRIBLE in the Panhandle. All these out of town idiots coming here make things a nightmare. Destin literally has only 1 way around town-- 98, so getting stuck in traffic is normal. However, she should have known this if she is local and planned/informed you accordingly. I know when setting something up with a provider that I always take traffic into consideration. With 98 being the only road in the FWB/Destin area, you have to. FWIW, traffic in Panama City Beach was bad yesterday, and this was at 10 am. My advice, tell the local officials to either a) build more/better roads or b) STOP marketing the area to out of towners-- we don't want them or need them.

2/3) Yeah, it is par for the course down here. Most of the ladies aren't truly professional and don't plan accordingly. Also, some girls play the "best deal" game. They will double book and then take the guy offering the most for the least amount of effort. She could be flakey, so trying another might help. but do your research first.

Too many options out here to follow one flakey broad and waste all that time...you could've been with several providers during all that wasted time. Just my opinion. And yes traffic is horrendous especially with the "no driving" idiot tourists.

I try to avoid Destin on the weekends in the summertime.... period. If I do end up going to Destin, I never "plan" anything that has me having to be somewhere at a certain time.

There is only one main road through Destin. If traffic is backed-up, you're out of luck. And if there is a traffic accident at that time, you might as well just give it up. XD

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I have recently had two clients who I spent a lot of time emailing back and forth to schedule. Cancel at the last minute. Maybe there is a full moon?
