Default Conservative Senator Chuck Grassley Declares War On Coca-Cola For Abandoning ALEC

Earlier this month, Coca-Cola and several other major corporations pulled their support, and their money, from the right-wing group known as the American Legislative Exchange Council. ALEC is a pay for play organization where corporate leaders can have access to lawmakers for a price. Together, lawmakers and corporations can sit down together and craft model legislation that do things such as lowering taxes for the wealthy and corporations, gutting worker protections and safety regulations, increasing guns in society, and suppressing the voice of the people through voter suppression. But ALEC is now facing a mass exodus of it’s members, and Republicans are furious about it. So furious in fact, that they are now pushing for boycotts of the companies that have abandoned ALEC.

On Sunday, Republican Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa posted a message on Twitter calling for a boycott of Cola-Cola for pulling it’s support of the right-wing organization.

“U might think abt not drinking Coca Cola since companysucombed to pressure fr Leftist not to support ALEC”

Other companies that have decided to distance themselves from ALEC include Pizza Hut, Pepsi, KFC, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Kraft, Mars, Intuit, McDonalds, and Wendy’s. Of course that means these companies will face a right-wing boycott as well.

Grassley’s call to boycott a corporation is significant. Remember how Republicans claim to love corporations and have decided that they are people? It turns out that Republicans only love corporations that support their anti-American agenda. . Clearly, you have to be a right-wing corporation to earn Republican support. If you’re not, expect the Republicans to attack you.

Did I miss your faux cut and paste outrage at Susan G. Komen when they were forced back to Planned Parenthood?

I wonder what your views are on AARP? GE? Google? Berkshire Hathaway? Apple? Microsoft? oh, and we can't forget BP can we?

People can boycott who they want. I doubt if Coca Cola is feeling the effect.

Oh, and last I checked, Rush was still on the air and making millions of dollars. Boycotts are not usually effective.

This assult on ALEC is actually being funded by us the taxpayers - The Center for Media and Democracy is the primary attack dog which is funded by The Tides Foundation. The Tides Foundation is a left wing socialist non profit that recieves substantial Federal funding.

And why ALEC? Because ALEC is dedicated to advancing limited government, free markets, federalism, and individual liberty.

I am not a boycott type of person. I do however make choices of how whenand where I spend my hard earned dollars.
Today, I had a Dr Pepper. I did not buy it at WalMart.

I think it is better to contact those companies via their customer relations and express your discontent at their actions. this is the time that you let them know that you will think long and hard before you purchase any of their products and you will encourage others to do the same and ask them to encourage others and so on. Explain that you are but one customer but that you have the ear of many other potential customers and that you do hope that your discontent over their decision will be transmitted to those that make such decisions. At that point you ask if it would be possible to speak to one of those people and if not what is the address or email address where you can send correspondence.

Always be polite and friendly and stay calm and respectful thanking them for their time and effort and that if it is something they are not comfortable dealing with that you would be more than happy to speak with a supervisor and then to their manager and so on till you it the brick wall. The more people that do this the better the chance of getting your message to the company will be. Most compan9es want your feedback and will be responsive.

remember, dont be the crazy guy or gal on the phine that ends up on a youtube parody; you want to be the one that actually gets the point across.

Nothing wrong with it at all--but don't be hypocritical by complaining if Coke boycotts ALEC. It's your right; it's their right.

Having said that, I agree with COG on this one.

Is ethanol driving up the price of corn thus increasing the cost of corn syrup

Not to worry it cost their competitors just as much so they will and have passed the price on to the ones that drink the most, the middle class.
Strange how these government programs always seem to hurt the middle class the most.
Green energy hits the middle class the hardest and only satisfies a very small portion of the population.

One of these days some people will begin to wake up and see the consequences of their actions. I call it pulling their heads out of their ass.

Yep, T2D, ethanol's a joke. Hmmm, we actually might agree on something. Guess your boy GWB shouldn't have pushed so hard for it. I wonder if Gulf Oil is in on some corn production?

I forgot to mention MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC. That would also include the New York Times, the LA Times, the Chicago Tribune, etc.
