Wow.

I figured at the most she would get “time served”.

There has to be more to this story than what our news media is saying.

A lot of this probably goes back to everybody in the US from ESPN commentators to the President saying she was being illegally held and in fact, was a hostage.

In a statement last week, a spokesman for the Russian Court said it was not productive for this type of rhetoric to be hurled at the Russian legal system.

After all, She broke Russian Laws.

I have a hard time feeling bad for her on this. When you play professional sports overseas (or act, or are a musician) you are warned ahead of time in regards to legal implications of various substances. She can claim ignorance all she wants, but I am certain she was briefed at some point, she just either didn't listen or chose to ignore it to her own peril.



Yeah-- 9 years is a lot-- but technically, where cartridges are still illegal here-- you can get 5 years plus depending on the judge. Cartridges are treated differently than plants-- as its considered "manufactured".

All the footage of her walking to & from court is comical. You would think they would have found guards closer to her height to escort her to show superiority, they just look inferior. Her size is a plus in prison, I'm sure she already has a few other inmates giving up their porridge.

Just last night, Shiela Jackson Lee was on one of the local news stations at 6:00 oclock continuing to use words like illegally held, hostage, miss carriage of justice..

All of this while just glossing over the fact that Griner entered Russia with an illegal substance that under their law rose to the level to qualify as smuggling. My first thought was…..”what the fuck was she thinging”.
Did she figure her celebrity status gave her immunity from the laws of the Country she was entering.?

Put the shovel down. Quit digging. Your pontificating in our media to garner favor among your voters or viewers does not play well in the Country where Griner is being incarcerated.
