Default Thoughts on this?

I was stuck in traffic this AM and surfing radio stations and came across this conversation on NPR. I find it intriguing, and am interested if anyone else has heard anything about this.

Oshins that's ALEC(American Legislative Exchange Council) and I've mentioned them before here. They are the most dangerous organization ever to our democracy. Couple ALEC with the Citizens United ruling and we have got a huge problem. The Devil has entered our house. Here is a good idea of who they are:http://www.alecexposed.org/wiki/ALEC_Exposed

While I agree that this is a frightening way to govern. I am not so naive as to think only one side is doing it.

Why have elected officials if they are going to let those who stand to benefit write the bills? Foxes guarding the hen house?

Its kind of like the Air Force agency (AFRPA) that hires a private contractor to hire their contractors. I attended a meeting with a group of these folks a while back and AFRPA's rep asked their contractor to write up the job proposal to be sent out for bids. Yes, the ones writing the proposal were going to bid... and I know this may come as a surprise, but they won the contract.

Was that here in SA? If it was, I wonder if AFRPA had a connection with Zachary?

Rodram ... enough of trying to spread your political views. OK we get it ... you have so much time on your hands that all you do is live for politics.

The simple fact is that BOTH parties are extreme and have lost contact with the average american. Politicians on BOTH sides are in it to get what they can for themselves.

If Republicans are considered teabaggers, are Democrats considered dicksuckers?

Yes it was here in SA. Former Kelly AFB. The company I was referring to was not Zachary.

I know Oceans. But almost all Democrats I know think all Reps are Teabaggers.

BTW ... I was trying to be funny with my question. I wonder if whoever came up with the name Teabaggers had any idea what it means within our little community here.

There are no absolutes and only degrees of everything.

Bullshit, it is not fact and you're trying to draw a false equivalency between the two
. If I'm wrong prove it. If you don't like it, don't click on it. And no, I will never stop until this version of the Republican party is gone.

Your party embraced Teabaggers, so now you're paying the price.

Here are some facts to ponder.

A german wrote a book depicting his view for the future of Germany and the world. Nobody took it to heart and thought he was just crazy. We know how that ended.

Obama wrote a book saying he would stand by his Muslim brothers and wanted to deny his white mother. And that he believe socialism is the future. Wonder how that will play out.

It's amazing how someone can hypnotize an audience into believing they walk on water even after they put in writing what they want to accomplish for the future.

Before you start jumping to conclusions, I AM NOT saying that Obama is a murdering tyrant like Hitler. Instead of building a country in his image by killing innocent people, Obama is choseing to do so by ruining our economy and socializing us just like he says in his book.

Another fact. NOBama is the only president in the 20th and this century to NOT properly stand during the passing of the colors, or during the national anthem or during other events such as the ceremony for the soldiers killed in Ft Hood. NOBama shows TOTAL DISRESPECT for our country and our flag by not holding his hand over his heart or providing a salute (which a military person would receive sever reprimands for) even though he is the Commander in Chief. While he was running for the DNC nomination, I had a few of my democratic friends (who are US congressmen/women) tell me that they had no respect for NOBama for these reasons and that they were hoping to have Clinton nominated instead. If someone is not proud (oh yeah, NObama's wife said she was finally proud to be an American AFTER her husband was nominated by the DNC) enough to properly represent the USA or is not proud enough of the USA then they need to pack up and get the hell out of here.

The democrats are just as extreme as the republicans. If you chose not to believe that then the saying that a sucker is born every minute has just been proven correct.

This is the market's response to overpowered national labor unions who have been writing legislation for the lib-progs for several decades. NOT all labor unions do this, just the overpowered ones. Labor unions themselves are a market response to poor working conditions and wages.

Regardless of what kind of economy a govt/people think they have or want or even legislate, humans always have market economies. The difference between what we call capitalism vs socialism vs communism is just what percentage of the market is legal and open vs illegal and black market, and how free to move upward through earned merit capital versus how enslaved by communal despair pits.

Gladman, you obviously didn't read the article.

The part about corporate representatives are physically sitting at a table with legislators, writing the bills they want passed and calling it a charity event. Yeah, that doesn't really work for me. I know it happens on both sides, and I think its illegal whoever does it, especially under the premise of a non-profit.

Satxguy - when you write such goofy shit its hard to take you seriously. Sorry man. That's my take. A few less NOBamas and a few more links to credible sources would do wonders for your credibility. Until then, no more kool-aid.

I definitely did read it. Thought I caught the gist, and I still think I did. I skimmed the part about the charity events, but that doesn't matter to me so much, b/c the lib-progs who go to union events to do the same thing disguise them with a blue collar. All I meant to say about it is that the corporate side is a response to the union side, to imply that the article mentions absolutely nothing about that. Then I went on to mention that unions are just market responses to capitalists, trying to head off anyone who might want to decapitate me for seeming to attack unions, which I 'm not--unions were a force for good.
BTW, thanks for starting the thread. Good to get the word out that things are a little more equal on both sides. ;-)

I think this is one of the most insightful questions by Oshins, that I've seen in these political discussions, and one I often ask myself.

Why have elected officials if they are going to let those who stand to benefit write the bills? Foxes guarding the hen house?

And no, not all Republicans are tea-baggers. There are probably a few good Republicans around that aren't wild-eyed crazies, that still cling to the out-dated true Conservative belief that if you work hard and save your money, you will be successful. I still keep hoping they will take their party back from the uneducated nuts that are taking us into the dark ages.
