Discrete Phone Blocking
I am married and discrete. So to keep phone safe from SO finding out. I got an APP that you can set up that will block texted and phone calls, but not pictures.
The cool part is when my providers call or text, the background changes picture (of your choice) letting you know you've got a message. You then call you secrete code and there you can access your text with out being in your SM. If you get a phone call it will show you who called. If your texting and the SO comes in to see your phone or yanks it from you or you shack it. The APP closed automaticly and the SO does not see anything but the background. I use it all the time. It is not free but is a small price of about $8.00. You will need full version to add and take away your blocking phone numbers.
Now the App is called Auxify.
Hope you like as much as I do.

Come on people think about this.
Assuming you have a family/multiple monthly plan, there are still records being kept in your account at the server level. Your call detail records will still show incoming/outgoing calls, texts, etc. Can your SO get access to those account details? Can your SO's lawyer get access to those account details?
This app only takes care of things on the phone.
Get a burner phone for hobbying.

If you have to worry about your SO coming along wanting to see your phone or yanking your phone from you, there are bigger problems here. You need a completely separate hobby phone desperately...and a different or no SO.

+10000 on this.
Nobody, and I mean Nobody, uses my phone unsupervised.
If I have something to show them, I bring it up and hand them the phone. Then take back the phone when they are done viewing.

The app is pretty cool but I would say get in conjunction with a hobby phone just to be on safe side.
Ring Central is about $15 a month and google voice is free. But like everyone else states do get a hobby phone especially if you are married.

A few anecdotes to illustrate the wisdom of a separate phone altogether:
1. I cannot count how many times I have returned a missed call, only to get the caller's voice mail, and upon hearing his voicemail greeting, learn his full name, and sometimes a SO's name as well. Just not a good idea. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want a provider having that information.
2. As someone else pointed out, all the privacy settings in the world do not prevent call details from being available through your service provider. Many years ago I worked as a customer service representative for Verizon Wireless. I will never forget a call I got from a guy who was absolutely FURIOUS because he kept getting detailed billing - meaning all of his calls were detailed in his monthly statement. I checked his account repeatedly, and it was clearly marked for summary billing, where only the number of minutes used should be noted, not each individual call. I was baffled and sent a ticket to tech support to find out why.
As it turned out, I did finally figure out why he was getting detailed listings, and we got it corrected, but the gist of it was this - he clearly did not want someone seeing those calls listed. Fair enough, but it never ocurrd to him that whoever he was trying to hide his call history from (a wife no doubt) could just as easily call me up, and get that information over the phone.
Moral of the story: If you share your phone, or if it is a work phone, privacy apps do NOT stop others who have access to that phone from calling the source and getting all the info you are trying to hide.

The simple answer...a hobby phone is the best! They are not that hard to get! Any dollar store has one. Use cash...never a credit or debt card! If "burning" it freaks you out, I don't know what to tell you!

Without a doubt, hobby phone - need to get one. One that you pay for CASH and NOT credit card, you do not want any records. Also purchase minutes for the phone with cash. Keep the phone in a place where the SO will not find it. Scratch it up a bit so if it does get discovered, you can state that you found it...Also make it a simple phone, not a SMART one because again, electronic records. Delete all text, phone, numbers, etc.
Stay safe, have fun.
