While I wouldn't put it quite that way, I do agree that with Trump out of the way, ( of his own choosing or not ) Republicans would stand a better chance in 22 and 24 with him out of politics but that ain't gonna happen, at least not this Nov.


I don't rule out the possibility that one of the cases he is still facing ( Georgia, to name one ) could put him in jail but if he got out by the day a candidate must say yes, I'm running in 24, he could still get nominated and still have ten's of millions of people vote for him.

You may like Trump’s policies Salty, but you’re not going to get them by supporting him and his strongest supporters. They mostly can’t win in purple districts and states. Trump lost the general election by 7 million popular votes and 74 electoral votes. That was against an old and feeble candidate, Joe Biden. And that was before his post election shenanigans made him even less popular. He lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton, who was even less popular than Biden.

Republicans who didn’t kowtow to Trump are the best bets to do well with independents. And people like Larry Hogan, Charlie Baker, Pat Toomey, and nearly every House Republican who didn’t support Trump in the second impeachment hearing won’t be running in the general election. Trump drove most of them out of office.

Trump’s a cancer in the Republican Party. He needs to be cut out before he destroys it.

Biden is on pace for placing judges at the highest rate ever. If the Dems hold the senate he can continue that good work. Can’t fix the Supreme Court but overall, those folks might inadvertently keep hurting the republicans election chances by approving far right positions.
