Hey guys I'm coming to St.louis soon and I was hoping to get a little help on good areas/hotels to stay at and which ones to avoid. Any info is greatly needed and appreciated.

I think the reason that there has been so little response to this inquiry is because it seems like that question gets asked at least once a week. There really should be a sticky made to provide the information; it seldom changes.
Places to stay:
Downtown
Chesterfield
Central West End
Airport
Places to definitely stay away from:
Maryland Heights\
Creve Coeur
Places to eat are numerous depending on where you are staying
The Hill area for Italian food - It's the old Italian neighborhood back when there were ethnic neighborhoods.
Downtown, Caleco's is a good choice as well as Charlie Giotto's
BBQ:
Pappy's
Bogarts
Sugar Fire
Adam's Smokehouse
Salt + Smoke
Breakfast and Lunch:
Osage Grill
List of a lot of good restaurants
https://graphics.stltoday.com/apps/stl100-2017/
Things to do:
St. Louis Zoo (world class and it's free)
Art Museum (Free as well)
Science museum(also free) These three are all in Forest Park. If you come in the summer there is also the Muny Opera which is the largest outdoor theater in the US. Mostly musicals.
If you like to Gamble, there is Lumiere downtown and Casino Queen right across the river. Hollywood in Maryland Heights and Ameristar about 2 miles from there in St. Charles.
Missouri Boatanical Gardens (also known as Shaw's Garden)
City Museum for the kid in you
About 2 hours southwest of St. Louis are some really great float streams if you are into canoeing or tubing.
The arch and the museum at the base of the arch
Of course we have the Cardinals and the Blues
The Old and New Cathedrals
And some other ideas:
https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attracti..._Missouri.html
Strip clubs if you are so inclined
The main ones are
Penthouse and Country Rock Cabaret (used to be called PT's Sports) These are right across the river in Sauget IL
Hustler Club and Hollywood in Washington Park IL
There are no good strip clubs on the west side of the Mississippi.
If I missed anything, I'm sure someone else will add to the list.

This is a great list with plenty of insightful information. I've read great reviews about Adam's Steakhouse and the food looks yummy!! I have to give it a try on my next trip to St. Louis

If you haven't come to STL yet I like Airport area, downtown STL (esp near or with a great view of the Gateway Arch) or Clayton.
Good luck!

Sometimes when the stars align * just* right Priceline gives me an excellent deal (like, say, $55-60/night on a room that goes normally for $180-200/night) for either the Crowne Plaza or the Hyatt Regency at the Arch, and if they align perfectly I get get a room with a nice view of the Arch (or in the case of the Hyatt, the Old Courthouse, which is just as good).
Though regardless of whether I get a great view or not, I like booking one of those properties because Charlie Gitto's Downtown is within walking distance...
Cheers,
bcg

55-60 wow!
I've never gotten either of those for less that $72-75ish pre-taxes.
I thought I was good at the bidding game but I need some of your voodoo lol.

Those weren't bids (I rarely bid there), they were Express Deals (I am a heavy user of the express deals).
That said, IIRC those were Christmas week deals; downtown St. Louis seems to go "dead" (well, comatose at least) over Christmas week, and I think they were desperate to book as many visitors as they could. If I can get into those properties for <= $80 I'll generally go for that.
Cheers,
bcg
