Obama regrets golfing after Foley death

Obama regrets golfing after Foley death
Quote:
"I should have anticipated the optics," Obama said in an interview with NBC's "Meet the Press" on Sunday.
The president said that he had been forced to hold back tears when he spoke privately to the family of Foley, who was beheaded, but added that there was always the prospect of a "jarring" contrast between world events, and his own efforts to carve out a semblance of a normal life through recreation.
And he also admitted that sometimes his own performance in some of the more public rituals of the presidency was lacking.
"Part of this job, is also the theater of it.
"It's not something that always comes naturally to me. But it matters. And I'm mindful of that," Obama said.
Obama was hammered in the press after being pictured smiling and enjoying his round of golf after making a public statement last month after Foley's death, while he was on vacation on the resort island of Martha's Vineyard

Fish Bowl
Well, I for one, am glad that President Obama confronted this "optics" issue head-on and honestly admitted that the visual impact of his golf game struck the wrong chord in vivid contrast to the somber moment of the atrocity.
A quiet moment of reflection alone would have looked better to the press and the world than jaunting around in a golf cart.
. . . However, a President is under tremendous pressure daily and a little respite with a stress-reducing activity is necessary for emotional health, but he must remember that a President lives in a fish bowl while he is in office.

No, he doesn't regret golfing. He regrets the fact that he got called out about it.

Didn't Obama golf after the Chuck Todd interview? In the middle of the afternoon? When the temperature was in the 90s?
He's given up.

Obama has reached two milestones. He has far surpassed Carter as the most incompetent President in history. He has also flown by Nixon to become the most corrupt President in history. And despite what we hear in the press, I think a case can be made that he is by far the least intelligent President in history. We may have our first Triple Crown winner in the White House!

Now this is the truth. It took two weeks before the "realized" that it looked bad. Also remember that no one from the White House showed up at the funeral for Foley but there was plenty of attendance for Micheal Brown in Ferguson, MO. Obama is just sorry.....no, he's not sorry at all. He is probably pissed the peasants rejected his heartless behavior and his handlers told him that he had to ACT contrite to get back above 38%.

Presidential checklist...
Blame Bush?... Nope. Not this time
Blame Republicans?... Nope. Can't do that.
Blame Tea Party?... Nope. Not now.
Blame the press?... Yeah... That's the ticket!

You are absolutely correct. It is also pretty funny for a guy who got elected because of his soaring oratory to complain about the need for "theater" as part of the job.
