however much we might not ascribe to the taliban's thinking or religion or actions or their view of God and how they must be His agents wreaking God's vengeance on their neighbor for they alone have the knowledge, and regardless of the way they treat women, exclusive of al queda, they are not our focus or our "enemy". yes, they are fighting to regain their prominience and in support of their co-religionists, al queda, but their focus hasnt been to attack america (to date). so separating them from al queda, if we could, stripping away that alliance, if we could, would be a good thing.

so as much as biden is a buffoon, there is a certain strategy to that remark.

You would save yourself (and Obama and Biden in the process) if you just were honest and state the obvious.

The obvious being that "yes" while the Taliban is our enemy; it is necessary to bring the Taliban to the negotiating table, and thus we are soft peddling (some would call selling) their enemy status as a means to an end.

Default "if you were just honest" probably just a phrase you may be used to

Whirly seems to do "knee jerk" quite well! In fact, he excels at it! Whirly has difficulty seeing the forest because all of those damn trees are blocking his view!

Was the taliban behind 9-11?
Whose has more right to the country of Afghanistan the Taliban or Americans?
*Did the Taliban meet with USA representatives before 9-11?

*Bush made a statement that the Taliban must go for harboring OBL and also because they have one of the most oppressive regimes- last I check Taliban came to power way before 9-11.

*Which group was being financed by the U.S to fight the Soviets- I'll answer this one for you- the Muhajadeen aka the Taliban. Who were they fighting? I'll answer this one for you- they were fighting the Soviets who were supporting the Northern Alliance who amazingly are now our best friends. The Taliban were nothing but a scapegoat for the U.S- sure they are an oppressive regime but they were like that since they came to power in the early 90's and the U.S did noting about it- at least they never thought about invading them.

Read up on your History- The taliban is Red herring a scapegoat for the bigger picture- sure Afghanistan looks like a hole in wall country but it has huge deposits of Lithium and other precious metals and it's also a crucial to the pipeline that the Saudi's have been trying to build for many years.
Oh and it's current President has huge ties to the Oil industry in America and is nothing more than a puppet President.
Biden is correct the Taliban are not our enemy- they have every right to fight for their land- WE are the invaders- Al-Queada has long left Afghanistan so why are we still there?

I have a question for WhirlWay- Can you please STFU an on 11--2012 vote for the candidate of YOUR choice like everyone else??? Who the fuck cares what you think about cast your vote like everyone else- vote for Williard or some write in candidate like you did in 2008. It's amazing how you are so Pro Republican but you decided not to vote for McCain in 2008 and you are too embarrassed to say who you voted for in 2008 because actually I think you voted for Obama and you only create these threads as entertainment.

HERE'S MY OFFER TO YOU AGAIN WHIRLWAY FOR THE MILLIONTH TIME- IF YOU ARE CONFIDENT THAT OBAMA WILL LOSE- PUT YOUR MEMBERSHIP UP- IF OBAMA LOSES I PAY FOR ESCORT OF YOUR CHOOSING AND I WILL DEACTIVATE MY ACCOUNT AND GO AWAY AND IF OBAMA WINS YOU DO THE SAME???

See the big difference between You and I WW is I believe in my vote and I am putting that offer up- you on the other hand are a coward- you don't know who to support, but deep down you know far more than likely Obama wins again- your life must suck pal.

Wellendowed; your rants show what a dumb fuck you are...........no more comment required.

You might show some intellignence if you did a little research and a good response to my original question is this response by a senior Taliban official....but you are too fucking dumb Wellendowed to do research...all you can muster is some lame blustering..........now sit down and shut the fuck up moron.

“We are not natural enemies of each other,” says Khazi Habibullah Fauzi, who served as the Taliban’s charge d’affaires in Saudi Arabia before the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. “We became enemies because of an external factor—namely Osama bin Laden, who was not an Afghan. Now he is gone, and the Taliban have little or nothing to do with al Qaeda.”

but another senior Taliban operative has a completely different perspective.........

"......the Taliban are also deeply embittered by Biden’s statement. “Biden is talking both sense and nonsense—if we are not your enemies, then what are you doing in Afghanistan?” the operative complains. “Is this some kind of joke, to say we are not your enemy after you occupy our country, imprison us in cages, and kill tens of thousands of our people? We didn’t invite you here, and we never wanted to become your enemy....”

Lets paraphrase; (1944) Let me repeat, the Nazis are not our enemy. They may have been in charge of Germany when this war began but our concern is not with the Germans or the rank and file Nazi. Our concern is with those who made war on the United States. Let me also take this time to apologize for the actions of our troops in France. Their overzealousness is responsible for the unnecessary lose of life and property as they strive to bring peace to Europe again. Little Joe Biden age 3

The late Ron Silver was a committed liberal. He voted the right way (for Hollywood), he said the right things, he gave money to the right candidates, and he was outraged during the first Clinton inauguration when some military jets flew over. He demanded to know what gave the military the right to fly over their celebration. Dennis Miller was also a committed liberal of note. After 9/11 happened both reevaluated what they believed. Both realized that the country (and its people) were in peril and they both realized that the left wing democrats were never going to take national security really seriously. They became conservatives for the sake of their families and country.

It is always the way that the older (wiser? smarter? worldly?) someone gets, the more conservative them become. It is very rare to go the other way.

If you are so stupid you think only conservatives are the only ones serious about national security, you should think about a brain transplant.

Default GETTING UNDER WELLENDOWED'S SKIN AND INTO HIS HEAD A WAY TOO MUCH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still recommend great UTR providers that I find to other hobbyist on this board; unfortunately (for you) aren't on the list anymore.

Not my choosing, just the outcome of your own personal attacks against someone who has opposing political view points.

Every thread I post you are compelled to attack personally rather than debate the ideas. As in post #6 above in which you were emphatic to tell me to STFU and so forth...........BTW this is one of the few signs of Obamazombie sickness !

You have some personal attachment to defending Obama and his failed administration. A compuction beyond reason; hence, your personalization of my threads.

But never mind, in the future I suggest you stay out of my threads; since I am obviously getting under your skin and into your head wayyyyyyyy toooooooo muchhhhhhhhhhhh !

Now move along and have a nice day ....

Reagan and Bush 41 called the Taliban "Freedom Fighters" when they were killing the Russians. Whirly, you and many of your friends see things in stark Black & White tones.

Here are Taliban leaders visiting Unocal in 1997.

http://www.historycommons.org/contex...0497texasvisit

1997

Representatives of the Taliban are invited guests to the Texas headquarters of Unocal to negotiate their support for the pipeline. Future President George W. Bush is Governor of Texas at the time. The Taliban appear to agree to a $2 billion pipeline deal, but will do the deal only if the US officially recognizes the Taliban regime.

The Taliban meet with US officials. According to the Daily Telegraph, “the US government, which in the past has branded the Taliban’s policies against women and children ‘despicable,’ appears anxious to please the fundamentalists to clinch the lucrative pipeline contract.” A BBC regional correspondent says that “the proposal to build a pipeline across Afghanistan is part of an international scramble to profit from developing the rich energy resources of the Caspian Sea.” [BBC, 12/4/1997; Daily Telegraph, 12/14/1997] It has been claimed that the Taliban meet with Enron officials while in Texas (see 1996-September 11, 2001). Enron, headquartered in Texas, has an large financial interest in the pipeline at the time (see June 24, 1996). The Taliban also visit Thomas Gouttierre, an academic at the University of Nebraska, who is a consultant for Unocal and also has been paid by the CIA for his work in Afghanistan (see 1984-1994 and December 1997). Gouttierre takes them on a visit to Mt. Rushmore.

1999

About a dozen Afghan leaders visit the US. They are militia commanders, mostly Taliban, and some with ties to al-Qaeda. A few are opponents of the Taliban. Their exact names and titles remain classified. For five weeks, they visit numerous locales in the US, including Mt. Rushmore. All their expenses are paid by the US government and the University of Nebraska. Thomas Gouttierre, an academic heading an Afghanistan program at the University of Nebraska, hosts their visit. Gouttierre is working as a consultant to Unocal at the time, and some Taliban visits to the US are paid for by Unocal, such as a visit two years earlier (see December 4, 1997). However, it is unknown if Unocal plays a role in this particular trip. Gouttierre had previously been paid by the CIA to create Afghan textbooks promoting violence and jihad (see 1984-1994). It is unknown if any of these visitors meet with US officials during their trip.

QUIT BLAMING OBAMA FOR WHAT GREEDY OIL COMPANIES PUSHED FOR YEARS! There is plenty of blame to go around - look at the people who financed the lobbyists on K Street and still do to this day!

stevie,

under Reagan & Bush 41, the taliban didn't exist nor did the freedom fighters at the time called themselves that. however, you are referring to the group known as the Mujahadeen.
