It will only be as fast as your hardware allows.

good point
what do you suggest to get as much out of it as I can?
currently I have
MS windows 7 home 64 SP1
AMD FX-4130 quad core processor, 8 GB RAM

I use clear internet which is cheap compared to comcast. No wires, make it ideal
I can stream netflix with no issues, but when I speed test, its still 1MBps up and download is about 9Mbps

The choke point in most networks, even corporate ones, is the Internet connection. Most users run at least 100 MBps and even many home users now run Gigabit Ethernet. However, most users have Internet connections that are much slower than that.

I was going to get it at my studio but other people in the building kept saying their connection would drop all the time so I passed on it. I think its just something with my location in downtown KC though. Other people that have it at their homes love it and have no problems.

Gigabit router is part of the full package. I have a friend who got it in the first wave of the build-out and is thrilled with it. I watched him download a full HD movie just to show it off in like 9 seconds- no bullshit.
They're digging in my part of JOCO now- they'll get my money.

Yeah. Gonna be a while for me too. Luckily tho, I have a home-office and use my business internet line throughout the house. It's not GB Ether. But it's 45MB down, 12 MB up. Fast enough for now. And the business is paying for it, so....

..I do love my tivo, I've had a tivo DVR for the past 12 yrs, which sucks, my 1st one lasted 10 years, then they die every 2 yrs it seems
when google fiber comes along, I can't use my tivo
I have a Tivo premier and a Tivo 2 that lacks the HDMI ports to use with comcast

anyone want a tivo series 2 with a lifetime membership(means you get the program guide, and can record and has 60hrs memory
Its sitting under my newer tivo I got last year,

Default Fastest available

I have it at my loft downtown and it's stupid fast. Just ran a test and it was 128 Mbps. (Intel I-7 Core processor). I also have TV and it is far superior to Time Warner. I'd definitely recommend it not only for speed, but customer support is much better than T.W. I've never had an issue with it going down and I've had it since March this year. Also, huge memory for recording shows.

are you hardwired into the router?
or wireless?
I use clear internet($40/month) and it's wireless, aka cell towers, or magic,
really nice
BUT Its ~1Mbps (up/down)
I still can stream netflix and have no issues with my computer, iphone, etc..
I used to have ATT and that would go down all the time,
clear fails when its raining heavily, sometimes.

how is the interface with the TV? I had comcast xfinity and it just blew, my tivo is superb, but Fiber says I can't use the tivo with their TV...I would just keep comcast, since I'm under contract till 2016

how did you get it? I thought you had to sign up well in advance?

It's cool. Just ran a speed test at hit 338.41 mbps download and 434.00 upload. I truthfully don't know what that means, but I can look at porn all day without having to wait for buffering...so it's pretty cool.

The tv package is awesome. User friendly interface with tons of storage space on the DVR. I was one of the first to get Google Fiber 1 1/2 years ago and have not had a single problem.

$127.11 per month, every month. Never changes. That is for internet service and the tv package without movie channels.

The customer service is hands-down the best of the metro internet & TV service providers.
