Default Liberals Only: Why do we vote the way we do? One thread for Liberals and One Thread for Conservatives. Please no cross-overs.

First some ground ruiles. Pease do not post an opposing view. You will have a trhread of your own for that with the same guidelines and question.

Second: Please lets talk about policyies and ideas, not persoalities. The weaknesses and character flaws of our major politicians have been well examined already.

The question for liberals is: Why would you vote for a liberal candidate for public office in a local, Statewide or national election?

I vote for people who will promote ideas of good government, fairness for public policies vs. simple political appointments. Ideas and application & energy agenda's. FORWARD thinking about infrastructure, education, and addressing the shitty state of our immigration system. Voter integrity and making sure we keep voters able to vote, (*every vote counts), keeping courts filled with judges and not JUST conservatives or Liberal ones, but GOOD ones. Ones that actually have done the job unlike some recent SCOTUS nominees who never did shit or are being scrutinized by ethics violations. As far as state elections, I'm actually registered as a Republican, and I use my vote to either eliminate the bad actors, or to vote for good ones. There is a local lady Kim Ward near me who always gets my vote, cause she just gets shit done. And while I'm normally a fairly liberal person by theme, I'm conservative fiscally and she fits my idea of a good state congressperson. I also vote for a lot of conservative judges locally when I know them, or of them. Policies are much easier to get done locally. I am beginning to think that federal national electee's are the problem and would definitely vote for term limits for all of them.

I think having a good energy policy is really very important right now. I do believe we need to keep the gas and oil still flowing for all the right reasons to me.

We need to keep heat, lubricants and other uses of gas for creating things like plastics and other good items vs. just creating a combustible liquid, and know we have a real curve to incorporate Electric as a transport option, but we are clearly not there yet.

So, I'd be all for doing things like voting for several nuclear plants being built to help bolster the power grid and being owned by the government or subsidized nationally to get us there.

Debatable on whether high pressure steam vessel reactors are the right way vs. other sodium or salt reactors; And as far as transportation goes, we need a giant infusion of capital to make interstate travel better and safer.

The railroads suck, there is no fast / bullet trains anywhere, and our road system is a cobbled up piece of shit when it comes to transportation. PA is really one of the shittiest when it comes to roads.

I'm sure there is more, but that's enough for now.

When you say please, no "shenanigans", or "rules" for your thread, it never works. This is the internet. And I'm am a rules breaker.

Reminds me of Corny and his poll thread for only conservatives. I crashed it.

Just to answer- I vote the way I vote because I am a True Blue from birth. Was not raised this way. I AM this way. Because I am what I am.

There's no doubt about it. Economic liberalism lifted billions out of poverty. It far outperforms socialism, crony capitalism, planned economies and the like. I'm a social liberal as well, as I believe most of us are, given our participation on this site. Government, to the extent it makes sense, shouldn't interfere with decisions of adults that don't harm others. As to your question, obviously I prefer candidates who agree with my views. Unfortunately there aren't very many who have actually won elections who are both economic and social liberals. Gary Johnson comes to mind.
