Default Just like water, food, and shelter, SEX is a need the "Hopeless Hobbiest" will forever be a slave.

As a male the urge and need for sex is as basic as hunger pains when one needs food, through out history there has not always been this negitive criminal act stigma attached to random sex. The greeks and romans as a culture both understood the need to satisfy a healthy sex drive. The bath houses of roman were full of randon sex and orgies, and was looked on by society as common as sitting down to eat lunch. Most religions of ancient time approved of a man having as many wives/tents as he could provide for there was not the weight of monogamy on a man to be faithful to only one woman for life. As humans we are animals just like any other beast, the only thing that supposedly puts us at a higher level is reasoning, intellect, and the ability to live in peaceful societies we create, but we as animals still have natural instincts and basic needs and sex is one such need. In the days of the american old west the saloon/whore house was the central point of the town, after months on the range a cowboy wanted 3 things a bath, bottle, and a woman. It was not until christianity came on the scene that there became this focus on monogamy, and deamonizing casual sex. So then we have the "Hopeless Hobbiest" married, committed, or not he is a slave to the natural sexual urge that calls out to him, as one dawg here puts it " that shit just be callin' me man", the hobbiest could be a well intended law abiding christian, but the natural sexual urge just will not leave him alone. The disposition of hobbiest and provider are different but basically the same, the hobbiest needs to feed his natural urge for sexual fulfillment, and the provider needs to satisfy his need inorder to fullfill other basic and personal needs in her life.

Another good post, Cheeto. But is that a statement or a question?

It's all about self control. Just because someone has an urge does not mean they have to act on it each and every time. If you are on a diet and you eat a big mac every time you crave one, doubtful you will lose much weight. If you are a recovering alcoholic and think it's still ok to hang in bars, you are putting yourself right back into the temptation you left. If you are lazy and never do anything with your life, you will end up with just that.

Some men do this on occasion and only while they are not in a relationship, while others do it all the time no matter who they hurt or put at risk. Some providers do it to get through school or support their children, while others do it for greed and to overcompensage for the lack of attention they can't get in the real world. You will eventually die without food and water, but no one has ever died from lack of sex.

If we can all accept the premise that prostitution exists just about everywhere.... can you imagine the risk within a fundamentalistic Islamic Society? Slick's manifesto here, speaks about the primal urge.... does that urge not exist in such strict societies? Is scratching the itch worth it, in such societies? I wonder which body parts are first to go, if/when caught?

I'm sure I could google for answers to my questions.... but figured it would be more fun to hear the responses from our free (relatively) hobby perspective!

The topics I propose, many ask a question, some are general societal observations I have pondered, basically I present them as food for thought, and input however the reader chooses to respond. Collectively weather we be Hobbiest or Provider we are all here at the same table, each of us have different stories to tell but somehow we have all found ourselves in the same arena. What binds us here collectively is individual need. Needs that feed upon eachother inorder to be fulfilled and survive. Many of us hobbiest or provider are personnally content with the life and choices we make in this so called hobby, but many of us hobbiest or provider bear the burden of a weak conscience supported by a natural urge or a financial dependency, we do it, but then we are remorseful and feel guilt for our behavior. Many of us hide what we do in the closet and hope our family and friends do not find out. Many a hobbiest here have wives, committed relationships, or hold societal as well as professional alliances, that would not understand if they got caught. Just ask Tiger Woods, David Vitter, and the many other high profile individuals that have lost everything because of their weakness for sex. I know of everyday walk of life joes out here that have lost families, homes, and are financially ruined because the sex industry totally consumed their life. One guy I know maxed out three 45K credit lines his wife knew nothing about. He spent almost all of the money on stripers and escorts, one of the credit lines was a second mortgage line against his home, which he lost. Basically he became a sex junkie, sex is no different than drugs, alcohol, or gambling. Medical studies of brain waves show that all of these dependencies stimulate the same neuro centers and are addictive. Many providers hold their head up high with no shame in their game saying hear I am, and this is what I am. There are many here though that are not here by choice, this is not what and how they choose to live their life. Many of them as well have husbands, children, family and friends that would not understand if they got busted and it was found out what they do. I know one woman who graduated with a petro chemical degree, and like everything else jobs are hard to find, so she goes to Houston and starts escorting, she is a very beautiful woman and is making between 4K and 10K a week. Her father is a methodist preacher, and she went to college on a ministry backed scholarship. Most Methodist are of money with strong societal reputations. This woman tells here father she is working for a refinery in houston making 4K a week, and prays her family never finds out the truth.

My family does not know what I do because neither they, nor I find it acceptable. It's not like announcing the completion of a Masters Degree, and I am not "proud" to be an escort. I do what I do for the time being, but it's not something I would ever shout from the roof tops. No matter how we dress it up here, the real world has a different opinion on what we do, and it is usually moreso for the escorts. If I were proud and not worried about who found out, I would not feel the need to hide my face and be so utr. In can in fact impact your future success in other avenues, and for some it already has.

Ahhhh , but you tell of a few stories out of many. Among the many (however few) , are stories of people on both sides of the sexes, who have not as much to lose.... who have their financial and personal priorities in order... and are able to truly enjoy the freedom and expression that this lifestyle has to offer. An open sexual lifestyle can be healthy and enjoyed to it's fullest! There is nothing mutually exclusive between a sexually open lifestyle and happiness!

Is there a recipe for such success? No! But it does happen.... perhaps more often than many realize.... and it can be enjoyed by both sexes within the boundaries of an otherwise traditional relationship! It Happens!

I don't doubt that it can happen, but I am not interested in that type of lifestyle or relationship. I am educated, fairly attractive, and secure so I have no need to search for happiness in something that is not my idea of genuine. I am not willing to lose my job, degree, or my family for this of all things. It's simply not worth what I would have to give up, if I were exposed. I find pleasure in my baby smiling, sunsets, true friendships, and my spiritual walk...the simple things if you will. Sex is only important to me if it is based in a loving relationship, not as a selfish act ruled only by gratification. I am odd in that I know, but that's just me.

actually, the risk isn't too bad under an islamist society.

they actually have a way around the prostitution issue. this is how I understand this works.

a muslim male sees an unattached muslim female prostitute, and wants have some fun with her. he proposes a temporary marriage with her. After this arrangement, the temporary marriage is then disolved and they go their seperate ways.

Clerics hate this work around this islamic edict, and they can't do anything about it because it is legal.

Don't forget a curious hypocrisy that exist in Islamic Afghanistan: Women are for "reproduction" and the "bacha bereesh", boys without beards, are for "bacha bazi" -- literally "boy play". That is why our soldiers serving in Afghanistan in the U.S. Special Forces were allowed to grow beards so that there would be no confusion as to their sexuality and position as a dominant male to be respected.

thats a new one for me. hadn't heard that one.

that cultural reference obviously explains a scene in the movie "kite runner", where the main character's half-brother's young son was abused by a Pashtun Taliban leader. it never occured to me that the boy was also molested by the pashtun taliban leaderm in their version of boy play.
