Default Sometimes 'cost' isn't measured in dollars and cents.

In the Soviet Union, the price of bread was very affordable. The problem was, there wasn't any bread to buy.

On the brink: bread lines in Moscow Soviet Union reported nearing bankruptcy
November 06, 1991|By Kathy Lally, Moscow Bureau of The Sun

MOSCOW -- The Soviet Union marched still closer to complete economic collapse yesterday as bread lines grew longer and the government reportedly edged toward bankruptcy.

The situation is so serious, the head of the Russian KGB said, that rioting could erupt across Russia within weeks.

Oh great, I was worried about that.

I am sure my CEO will take a $250,000 pay cut.
He has all the money and built the company from nothing. He should work for free anyway.
To think he expects a pay check out of all we have done for him.
Thanks.

Most of the company's workers, such as delivery workers and truck drivers, are unionized through the International Brotherhood of Teamsters and receive insurance under a different plan.

Hmmmm so 15,000 non-union workers they mean.

from the article;

In the memo, UPS said it's willing to take care of its own, but it won't bear a burden that other companies can take on.

translation; the spouse will have coverage through their own employer.
