Arrived around 8:30, and Mexican customs was active.
The only time I ever had to pay customs was when I brought a window air conditioner and then the fee was around 15%.
Household goods they really don't care about, especially if it is out of the new packaging. Knives seem to be illegal although there might be nuances to that such as length or if it is a multitool such as a 'Swiss Army' knife. Having a knife in your pocket rather than a tackle box might be considered carrying a weapon.
