Libyans See al Qaeda Hand in Embassy Attack
I thought al Qaeda was in shambles, and that we had wiped out their command structure. According to this article, they are stronger than ever.
From the article:
"I think this was al Qaeda," Mr. Magarief said in the interview. "If you take into account the weapons used, like RPGs and other heavy weapons, it proves that it was preplanned. It's a dirty act of revenge that has nothing to do with religion."
Maybe if the President had attended those briefings . . . nah, there were more important things to do.

Al-Qaida says US consulate attack 'revenge'
DUBAI, Sept 15, 2012 (AFP) - Al-Qaeda said the deadly attack on the US consulate in Benghazi, Libya was in revenge for the killing of the network's number two Sheikh Abu Yahya al-Libi, SITE Intelligence Group reported Saturday.

It has everything to do with Islam, unfortunately. These people have been killing infidels for fourteen hundred years, because that's what the Quran tells them to do.
Americans, mostly liberals, seem to think that if we pretend that Islam is great religion with a proud history, that somehow, that will change reality. There's an old joke that illustrates this kind of madness.
One dark evening a man was on his hands and knees under a street light looking through the grass.
A pedestrian asked what he was looking for.
"The keys to my car." replied the man.
Having some time and feeling helpful, the pedestrian joined the man in his search.
After a while, with no success, the pedestrian asked: "Where were you when you lost your keys?"
"Over there by my car." the man gestured.
The pedestrian was puzzled. "Why are you looking for them here?"
The man without keys explained: "The light's better!"
We pretend that Islam is regular religion, not fundamentally different from other religions, because if we acknowledge that Islam is fundamentally evil, we are required to act more agressively, which we don't want to do. We can go on pretending that a rattlesnake is really a kitten, but sooner or later, we are going to have to face reality.

Of course we can't just declare war on all Muslims. The truth is, the west has been fighting Islam for hundreds of years and there's no end in sight. Europe was almost conquered by invading Muslim forces in 732 AD. Muslims conquered and ruled Spain for 700 years. America's first war on foreign soil was against Muslims, the Barbary Wars, 1801-1805 & 1815.
We do need to have policies that are consistant with the reality that Islam is not just another benign religion.
We could start by not allowing immigration from Muslim countries. Europe is being overun, and ruined, by Muslim immigration. It is forecast that France will be majority Muslim in forty years.

Not only did Odumbo not attend those intelligence briefings, he didn't direct the embassies to step up security on the anniversary of 9-11 despite indications there might be problems. Furthermore, after four American embassy personnel are assassinated, Odumbo -- who doesn't have time for intelligence briefings -- blames a clueless American film director for his (Odumbo's) foreign policy failures and flies off to Las Vegas to attend another fund raiser.
