Default John Lennon Assassinated 40 Years Ago This Day

At age 40.. He would be 80 today.. Yoko turns 88 soon.

Spinning ''Sometime in New York City'' now. Many Lennon fans dislike the album, and its dated, radical lyrical themes. But the album boasts Lennon's best guitar work, I think.

Of course, it is a Lennon/Ono album. Yoko is truly half the album. I think her ''Sisters O Sisters'' is the best cut on the album.

That's right. He was the guy on TV for ABC at the time. Something he thought he'd never do.

I was 10 when it happened and I knew the world was a lesser place when he was taken from us. To think of all the wonderful music that was stolen from us that day. A poet, a philosopher, an artist, an activist, a spokesman for human kind, a beautiful person.

Saw a documentary recently and then did some research on Mark David Chapman.
Big conspiracy theory guy who's brain was muddled with a buffet of mental illness and delusions.
He was psychotic, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, manic depression and various personality disorders.
Somehow, he felt that J.D. Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye took on great significance for him and he felt that he should model his life after its protagonist, Holden Caulfield.
I don't give a shit about his mental illness - Fuck him! Die in prison idiot.

I'm curious if, 40 years later, Chapman still has any regard for the Catcher in the Rye, or Hinkley with ''Taxi Driver''?

Curious for one minute. After I got an answer, it would be ''ok Guards, you can return him to lock up''. One minute is more than either deserves.

The Tuesday night after, I joined hundreds of other fans, maybe as many as 1,500, in Lee Park. Just standing around with quite a few radios tuned to KZEW, which played Lennon songs non-stop for a couple of days. Sure doesn’t seem like40 years ago. Time flies.
