just thinking how the Moral Crusaders of years past.. say, 1990's and earlier.. have damn near disappeared. there used to be drive-in XXX Theaters, downtown peep shows, many more Streetwalkers. after the explosion of cellular phones and the internet, almost all of the paid sex avenues have been driven away from public view.

ironically, pornography use is higher than ever. but I never hear about how "evil" it is, how "corrupting".. I can only conclude that the lobby was never about controlling or eliminating its use, but to keep it away from public view.. the "I don't care if you do it, just don't let me see it" ideal.

even strip clubs, despite their firm standing in US cities.. zone them away from schools, churches.. and it's all good.

Regarding online porn;

There was talk of a bill in the UK that would require age verification for all pornographic sites.

Here in the US, California proposition 60 was voted down whereas OSHA would have the right to implement condom use in pornography.

Nonetheless, as long as the sex industry is stigmatized, there will always be someoneone out there with a plan to do "God's work" by eliminating and eradicating 'societal sins' such as porn, strip clubs and etc.

They're not gone. They're just finding new causes. The big whine (at least one of the big whines) these days is human trafficking. And, after the fucktard coyotes baked a buncha folks in a truck in San Antonio yesterday, you can bet it's gonna be even bigger fot a while.

Recently, AMP raids have been in the news all over the US. Hell, I saw several posts (rants) on socmedia last night. I'm betting the "news" outlets will figger out some way to tie them together.

Meanwhile, the same folks who bring you the latest moral dilemma are pushing the LBGTQXYZ agenda, the same folks tgat promote Man-Boy Love.

I don't get it. It's criminal to watch porn while you poke an Asian girl who willingly took your money. But, it's okay if you want to put it on your neighbor's boy.

I sure miss the days when they had the District. One stop shopping. You never had to worry about getting outted, cuz to say you saw BillO in the District meant you were in the District, too.

good point.. Human Trafficking is definitely the issue Du Jour.

but how real is it? when I think about the former "causes", how they turned out to be mostly Bullshit.. will this Human Trafficking issue take hold? yes, for a short time.. although yesterday's San Antonio massacre is not the same as Sex Trafficking.. not entirely different either.

is the real issue regarding prostitution and pornography, a failure to defeat it? the will was there, but cell phones and the Internet was too big a foe?

Trying to eliminate it is like trying to eliminate alcohol: human nature won't let it happen. The best they could do is contain and direct rather than out right eliminate it.

Human trafficking I think is a lot worse than we realize, again, human nature. There are always those that will exploit 3rd world countries populations, and we don't hear about it that much because they're good at what they do.

Prostitution being illegal is still a law of the past, back when the religious nuts made laws. Most people to a degree sell their body in one way or another. Sure, it's not for sex, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening. Military sell their bodies to the government, sometimes their lives. Coal miners, construction workers, anyone doing any kind if manual.labor that breaks down the body more quickly than normal, it's all selling their body for profit. Some people literally sell body parts.

sort of like drugs and the Government.. they decide which drugs are fine to consume, if you choose the "wrong" one, not on the approved list, you're a bad criminal.. choose the "right" drugs, you're a decent human contributing to the Economy.

I think the whole "I don't want to see it" is about property values. They can say it's about protecting children or human trafficking but I don't believe it. People are more likely to buy a house if there's not a strip club a block away. Businesses aren't going to expand into hooker hollow if that's what it looks like.

Business in the front/ party in the back. It's all about appearances, not morals. Ask all the high society women hooked on prescription pills instead of doing trashy street drugs!

You just can't legislate morality. What is taboo with one person is the Holy Grail to another. But, you can attempt to legislate public health & make a bundle doing it.

Drugs, whether crack, opioids or sex, are always going to be a societal health issue. Some countries choose to outlaw them. Others choose to regulate them. Either way, it means money for the government.

Where it's illegal, the government spends huge money to enforce the laws. In doing so, they confiscate huge amounts of money, which goes directly into the LE bank account, while the politicians get donations to continue their agendas. Where it's legal, the government gets the money directly from those in the business and taxes the user. But, corporations benefit as well.

Some say legalization improves the product and lowers the cost, which is true for most products. But, for high demand products & services with a short term return, such as fuel, fashion, drugs, entertainment and services, there is no true free market. Demand continues to increase with population and popularity.

So, the user ends up carrying the financial burden and the government gets the money for it. The morality is the catalyst behind the government's choice to litigate or regulate. Keep the constuency arguing about the morality and you can slowly lower the standards to the point that makes the most money while maintaing control of the populace. Either way, government grows and so does the tax burden. And, producers & suppliers continue to innovate, lowering costs and increasing prices.

Porn is a good example. As technology increases to improve, delivery is cheaper & easier. The suppliers simply change the mode of delivery. No need to produce a tangible product, ship it to a store, hire staff, pay wages, taxes, rent & utilities. Just, make it available direct to the user online and charge a user fee. Government gets their cut in taxes and the pols tell the constituency how clean they've made the neighborhood, while the now-unemployed people wonder how they pay the bills. So, the people seek solace in their drugs of choice.

Well according to the Dallas Morning News about chief hall:
