Why are National Guardsmen being put in a no win scenario.?
These are citizens. Shop owners. Plumbers. Welders. Tunes.
They are NOT professional peace officers.
They are not trained to deal with the thugs, arsonist, and the criminal element that these Protest have attracted.
Think of the consequences if one of these Guardsmen had to defend himself and harmed a demonstrator. His life would be put in turmoil, possibly ruined.
This is a job for professional law enforcement.

from army.mil
"The National Guard has a unique dual mission that consists of both Federal and State roles. For state missions, the governor, through the state Adjutant General, commands Guard forces. The governor can call the National Guard into action during local or statewide emergencies, such as storms, fires, earthquakes or civil disturbances."

This is literally part of their mission (* bolded and underlined specific statement).
Quote:
Federal Mission
During peacetime each state National Guard answers to leadership in the 50 states, three territories and the District of Columbia. During national emergencies, however, the President reserves the right to mobilize the National Guard, putting them in federal duty status.
While federalized, the units answer to the Combatant Commander of the theatre in which they are operating and, ultimately, to the President.
Even when not federalized, the Army National Guard has a federal obligation (or mission.) That mission is to maintain properly trained and equipped units, available for prompt mobilization for war, national emergency, or as otherwise needed.
The Army National Guard is a partner with the Active Army and the Army Reserves in fulfilling the country's military needs.

For the same reason police are and draftees have been.
It's up to them to win.

The answer is not police or national guard. If the state, feds are really serious about putting a halt to this foolishness haul about 500 18/19 year old US Marines to Minn. Unleash then and come back in a few hours. It will be so quiet you can hear the birds sing.

you won't admit it, but some of those "bad guys" are Right-Wing organizers who are in the cities to disrupt, create mayhem, and promote their Fascist ideology.. you focus on the "lefties" that agitate, but your team is right in there, too. and your Boy is betting that he can re-create 1968, a new Southern Strategy, to carry him to re-election. I believed this in January, before the so-called "liberate" the people from CO-VID restrictions, and now the Haves vs. Have-Nots that Republicans want to frame as Good Law-Enforcement Loving Americans vs. Leftist Scalawags.

Have any evidence of that crazy claim. Any evidence at all. Something, an email, a note...Something other than the words of a democrat politician trying to save their own ass.

*Not some Facebook Photo-Op pose!
It's ignorance that is creating the "mayhem"!

"improve things"?
You mean stop the burglaries, arson, and murder?
How many of these "peaceful protesters" who are breaking into buildings, burning buildings, cars, and piles of shit, and shooting at police and other bystanders need "improvement"?
How many were released from jail or prison so they wouldn't get sick?
