Quote of Decade
“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
-- Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

You notice he doesn't say we're spending too much. He makes it sound like he's a hawk on fiscal responsibility and leaves the door wide open to increasing spending at the same time.
Obama also accused Bush of being unpatriotic for running up so much debt. What a slimeball.
PS You know you're probably going to burn in Hell for your signature comment. I bet you probably thought the "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" song in "Life of Bryan" was funny too.

Here is the best quote
Quote:
He explained for the first time that only when he became president did he understand why his 2006 Senate vote against raising the debt limit was wrong:
George Stephanopoulos: You’ve got to extend the debt limit by May. And it seems like you made up the job– your job is a lot tougher because of your vote in the Senate against extending the debt limit…When did you realize that vote was a mistake?
President Obama: I think that it’s important to understand the vantage point of a Senator versus the vantage point of a…President. When you’re a Senator, traditionally what’s happened is this is always a lousy vote. Nobody likes to be tagged as having increased the debt limit for the United States by a trillion dollars… As President, you start realizing, "You know what? We– we can’t play around with this stuff. This is the full faith in credit of the United States." And so that was just a example of a new Senator, you know, making what is a political vote as opposed to doing what was important for the country. And I’m the first one to acknowledge it.

Naked
To get back on track.
The best quote of the decade.
I think I like the one by Warren Buffet when he observed "that when the tide goes out, you find out who's been swimming naked".
. . . There are several layers of meaning there that make it memorable in my mind
.

Well, when it comes to promoting economic collapse, Obama has now taken the lead. A clear winner when it comes to dishonesty, corruption and disastrous policies.

At some point, Obama is going to have to own it.
He has had four years. And unemployment is creeping back up. Meanwhile we continue to add over a trillion in debt each year for very little result.
Obama advocated vastly increased spending to turn the economy around. Pure Keynesian economics. If we double the national debt and we still have 8+% unemployment and real income levels remain stagnant, then the failure will be on Obama and he and the Democrats will have to own it.
If the economy treads water for 8 years, then we are no better than Japan in the 1990s. Obama cannot leave office lie that and be considered a success.
The clock is running.
