Default Offshore Pharmaceuticals

If a Texas resident who has a valid prescription for Viagra were to order and receive the generic equivalent from a pharmaceutical company that is outside the US, would he be breaking any laws? Would it make a difference if it was the brand name drug, and not generic?

Your question "If a Texas resident..."
You are in Corpus Christi, just go down to Mexico Nuevo Progreso and bring back what you want. AFIK one can bring back a 90 day supply. The older you look, the more one can bring back.
If Viagra went generic in the USA then one can bring back generic.
Declare everything, then the most Customs will do is to confiscate

I've ordered generics from a pharmacy in India numerous times without a problem. It just takes a bit to get through customs. Maybe 3 weeks from order to delivery. I am not a Texas resident but since US Customs is a federal function I'm not sure why it would matter.

With exceptions (none of which seem to apply here), it's illegal to import a prescription drug into the U.S. unless the drug has been approved by the FDA. See:

https://www.fda.gov/aboutfda/transpa.../ucm194904.htm

I'm not a doctor and I'm no authority on Viagra, but:

"Pfizer, the manufacturer of erectile dysfunction med Viagra, just reached a settlement with generic manufacturer Teva that will allow Teva to start selling generic Viagra (sildenafil) in December 2017." See:

https://www.goodrx.com/blog/generic-...than-expected/

That would imply that there is presently not a generic for Viagra that currently can be legally imported into the U.S.

OP: You might read this, too:

As of a few months ago...When leaving Mexico and clearing customs, they WILL confiscate your meds UNLESS you have a written prescription with you. Pretty easy to order meds out of Canada. you still need to send them a prescription and copy of your ID. INDIA, I've ordered from a few times, no script or questions asked...but like another posted said, it will take 2-3 weeks for delivery.
There is an online site from Mexico that will ship without a script. I found there prices higher than Canada or India.

I can't speak to the legality but i order generic cialis from Northwest Pharmacy in Canada. It's about $3 a pop. I've been taking it for about a year and it seems to work just like the original name brand. It was my doc's suggestion and does require a script. Does take about 3 weeks.
