And You Thought The Tea Party Was Going To Make A Difference - Fool
Tea Party-backed candidates swept into Washington in 2010 on a wave of opposition to bank bailouts. Now that they’re in Washington, however, their campaigns are drowning in campaign cash provided by the very banks that benefited from the Troubled Asset Relief Program.
The 10 freshmen Republicans on the House Financial Services Committee who have Tea Party backing have taken more than $100,000 from the political action committees affiliated with JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America, Citigroup, Wells Fargo, and Goldman Sachs — the nation’s five largest banks — Bloomberg reports:
Yet the anti-bailout fervor that drove the messaging of Republican candidates during the campaign cycle of 2009 and 2010 has dissipated, and those same lawmakers are now collecting money from the firms bailed out by President George W. Bush’s $700 billion Troubled Asset Relief Program. [...]
The political action committees of those institutions have distributed $169,499 through March 31 to the campaign coffers of the 10 freshman Tea Party-backed lawmakers on the House Financial Services Committee, according to an analysis of campaign finance disclosure records.
The Tea Party hasn’t succeeded in ending “too big too fail” because they haven’t tried. Though the five biggest banks are now bigger than they were before the financial crisis, the Tea Party members haven’t proposed a single piece of legislation to limit their size. Instead, they’ve focused on repealing financial reform and blocking efforts to protect consumers from Wall Street’s predatory practices.

100'000 dollars. Whatever. TRILLIONS is the problem. 100'000 x 10'000'000 = 1 trillion.

How much have those banks contributed to other members of Congress, and President Obama?

Over 300 banks failed and were consolidated in 2009 and 2010 -- during Odumbo's first two years in office -- which is three times the number of banks that have failed since the mid-term elections sweeping in the Tea Party congressmen. Suck on that fact BigLouse.
Obama Attacks banks While Raking In Wall Street Dough.
10 Oct 2011
Despite his rhetorical attacks on Wall Street, a study by the Sunlight Foundation’s Influence Project shows that President Barack Obama has received more money from Wall Street than any other politician over the past 20 years, including former President George W. Bush.
Another fact for you to suck on BigLouse.

If you do not limit their size, you will always have to big to fail. That is wtf the Tea Folks have failed to understand. They are just another political faction that the GOP has taken under their tutelage. They were the latest "Hope and Change", right after Obama! 'Bout as useless too.

The free market would limit their size naturally, if we had one. Right now the government is more interested in keeping them big and keeping the money coming to their campaign machines to do anything meaningful.
The Tea Party was bought by the RINOs right after it was formed. Too bad.

That is exactly right but the masses do not understand this. Now all the Tea Party is is a anti Obama group. They offer up nothing. They are the new Hope and Change joke.

Are you that f**king stupid? This post is not about the banks but about the Tea Party members going in on one platform and then as soon as they get to Congress dropping their ideals and becoming the very money grabbing politicians they so hated. Try to not let your hatred of the president get in your way but then again I guess no matter what is posted you are going to spin it into something to do with your hatred of Obama.

It's not about the banks contributing but about the Tea Party members dropping their ideals and becoming the influence peddling money grabbing politicians that they so hated.

Big Louie, take it easy on COsFb. Connecting the dots and thought processes not involving scouring the internet for more useless sh*t to throw on a wall to see if it sticks just escapes him. It's just best to pat him on the head, nod, indulgently smile and move on.
The parriotriot wing of the TP is silent so far. No surprise since they're probably on a conference call with the Cock Bros. to find out what they should say next.

So you're condemning them because they have become like Democrats? Then you are right.

Are you that fucking stupid: fact is, most of the bank consolidation (about 80%) occurred BEFORE those congressmen were in congress!!! BTW, you didn't comment on Odumbo's being at the head of the feed trough.

Someone is going to be at the head of the trough. But the point is moot.
Stop hijacking threads and start your own. This thread is about the tea party making a difference or not. You have made no comment about the subject matter of the thread yet you demand comments about Obama. You blame him for everything. If he loses the election you will claim that the last 12 years were his fault too. You will ignore your castigating of the “Blame Bush” crowd and be leading the pack of the “Blame Obama” gang.
We wouldn’t expect anything less from you.
