this is the Texas answer to the Woodstock 50th show in New York, that may or may not happen.. that lineup has some established names, at least, even if all but Santana bear no relation to the original Woodstock.
this line up looks like it should be playing Nursing Homes. ZZ Top just played here.. boring.. Grand Funk? fuck, Mark Farner has been away for more than 2 decades. Chicago? the Dudes who play Winstar, to 70 year olds? please.. at least get Peter Cetera to reunite with them for this one-off performance. this shit is embarrassing.
the original Texas Pop Festival had the REAL Chicago and Grand Funk, in their glory days.. Sly and the Family Stone.. Santana.. Janis Joplin.. Led Zeppelin..
by the way, wasn't the original staged where Hebron Parkway intersects with 35E? Southeast quadrant? I know Music City Mall sits at the Southwest quadrant. maybe that was the site?
