Default Iowa? Gets it Right!

Watch out, international observers! You don't want to spend time in a Des Moines jail!

Iowa has joined Texas in warning international election observers of possible criminal prosecution if they violate state laws and get near polling places on Election Day.

Iowa Secretary of State Matt Schultz — like Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott last week — on Tuesday threatened Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe election observers with arrest if they came within 300 feet of a polling place’s entrance, in violation of state law. (In Texas, it’s 100 feet.)

I would have sworn you'd react differently to a police state

If you think protecting our voting process from international interference is a police state, you are as stupid as I think you are.

Not until you read, and understand, the article. That could take weeks.

Ya that international observation shit ain't gunna fly. Being a sovereign country means we don't report to anyone. (I'm starting to see why the UN wants in our action. ) I have asked some LE buddies and from what THEY say, I'm thrilled to have the cops out here. These are good ol boys, so don't think I don't see where it COULD go, if it were enforced poorly.

But could someone please explain to me what the big threat is with this "international observer" besides the fact they are there? There's nothin they can do and I'll tell you I voted for, whoever... Doesn't make it true. Fuck em.

So what do you all think about all the Americans that go and observe elections in other countries? Is that justified or only the U.S. has sovereignty? Does everyone else have to put up with our interference? By the way, in my opinion, we shouldn't interfere with other countries. All that money wasted can be better spent here either paying our debt or investing in infrastructure and preparing our workforce for the changing working conditions.

Just my .02.

Yeah, Kayla. That's why we have so many friends around the world. We stay out of their business.

I wonder why there's such interest in possible voter fraud in the US?

AFter all, we've been a shining example of clean, fair and balanced... Just ask GW Bush!

+1 Much more than 2 cents worth. Excellent observation.

Spoken like someone who probably has no problem with us sending "observers" to other countries to ensure that the election is "fair" aka our guy wins.

If you're referring to me, I oppose the US interfering in foreign countries' affairs, including sending observers. Let them handle their own elections.
