Corpus Hotel Suggestions...please!

I will be touring to Corpus this weekend but feeling uninspired by the hotel choices on Expedia! I have my favorites in other cities that I tour in but am flying blind when it comes to hotels in and around the Corpus area.
I am noticing there are many hotels that are completely booked. Is there some event happening in the city this weekend or is that a usual thing?

37 between exit 4A and 14 or Interstate 69 or SPID

The hotels here are having a banner year due to our vacation destination status and Eagle Ford Shale business.
Best, safest bets: HI Express and Staybridge on Oakhurst Dr; HI Express and Omni on N Shoreline; Hyatt and Hilton Garden on SPID
( So Padre Isl Dr).
None are cheap. Call them direct to avoid commisions from popular booking sites.

The Super 8 on Shoreline is a preferred hotel among traveling providers because of out side access to the rooms and being centrally located.
